Well, maybe figure out what set them off, first. It may've been bigger and badder than the coyotes.

When you hear that they have made a kill on something.
Smart creatures and work like clock work for the good of their pack.
When younger I spent most of the hunting season in the woods for days at a time, heard it quite a few times, tricky bastards would try to get my dogs to exit the tent.
Own several occasions I shot thru the tent to run them off.
They own the night, then I spent a few grand and I owned their asses at night with a gen three.

Typical coyote behavior
Nothing out of the ordinary here, they are very territorial and communicate through different vocalizations
Farmers here have my phone number, at $500 a calf and $1500 full grown they cant afford to let coyotes "play"
I enjoy the challenge and howl back to them...
Then they meet my leetle friend

Could be worse you could be dealing with wolves. The population here is really exploding. Friend of mine had to fence his entire back yard off so his wife could let their dogs out without them becoming dinner for the wolves.

I've been lucky until a couple weeks ago. Found a set of tracks of multiple wolves 20 yards into the timber behind my garage so now I know they are in the direct vicinity. I've got motion flood lights set up on the garage. I can see when they go on from the living room. Light goes on I grab the shotty and stand outside waiting for one to show themselves.

My neighbor knows if he hears the shotgun go off not to worry or call authorities. They are still protected around here and I don't want to be explaining myself to the heavy handed DNR.

Knock em dead where they stand and dispose of the carcass asap.

While I agree with killing them because of the havoc they raise with the deer herd, I can't condone using snares. In Maine they are illegal because they will kill a dog just as quickly as a coyote. There are safer, more effective ways of eradicating them.
