Wasn’t the best buck but I’ll get it mounted. Might be our only one together. It’ll mean a lot to see it on the wall.

160# 7-point. 1 brow tine didn’t grow or it would have been nicer, but 16” spread ain’t bad.

Took it with the 1895 45-70, Hornady ammo. Solid hole straight through from about 50 yards.

My nephew also got him a little 5-point and a small doe. Dad got a buck this morning with a messed up set of antlers.

Do not forget the summer sausage. Venison meat makes the best.

Also, James I almost have that box of reloading brass ready to ship to ya. Will need your new address real soon. Mark

Nice deer, both of you! And congrats to dad this morning, too. Filling the freezer and preventing three crash reports (I almost smoked 4 of those stupid things on my way into work yesterday!), all in less than 12 hours. Good work! Smile

More than almost anything else, I miss deer hunting with my dad. Thank you for this thread, it gave me a nice memory, I would give nearly anything for one more hunt.

This year is my 4th year hunting without my Dad, who died in Feb 2021. Deer hunting was his absolute favorite thing to do in the world. I still love to hunt but there is certainly an aspect missing that I'll never have back. We made some great memories and I'm hoping my sons will really catch the bug like I did.

Wow, your rifle buck season starts really early compared to us which was always the Monday after Thanksgiving but is now the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Those are some nice bucks!

Season?

Kidding of course, opened Saturday, I’ll go back out there tonight, this week is the best for the Rut, after thanksgiving it won’t be much out moving around here to be honest, can go days without seeing a thing.

I was told early on that if you can hang a ring on it, it counts as a point. Looks like an eight to me. Glad you got to spend time with your dad.

Just another day in paradise.

Hey, I’m gonna call it an 8 point if I can get that ring on it. That’s what we say too!

Any day in the field, particularly with a Dad, is a good one whether you get game or not. I particularly like having my kids along when they can make it.
