DailyWire.com: Democrat Governor Declares State Of Emergency Over Biden’s Border Crisis

Massachusetts Democrat Governor Maura Healey declared a state of emergency on Tuesday as President Joe Biden’s border crisis has overwhelmed the state’s services.

Healey said that the number of illegal aliens pouring into Massachusetts has “stretched” the state’s shelter system “thin.”

Healey said in her letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that the state of emergency was caused by “rapid and unabating increases in the number of families with children and pregnant people – many of them newly arriving migrants and refugees – living within the state but without the means to secure safe shelter in our communities.”

The letter noted that federal immigration policies were part of what was driving the problem, but Healey also claimed that “burdensome barriers keeping people from getting work authorizations” was part of the problem. Migrants being able to access better opportunities in the job market would likely serve as magnet for more migrants to continue coming to the state as its resources become more scarce.

Healey continued:
quote:
Over the past six months, the demand for emergency shelter has skyrocketed. In March of this year, 68 families per day were coming to our field offices seeking assistance. By July, that number had jumped to over 100 families per day. By comparison, in March of 2022, only 25 families per day came to our offices to request help. Currently, shelter entries per month are more than double the number of entries per month during the pandemic and roughly one-third higher than pre-pandemic levels. At the same time, the number of families leaving emergency shelter for safe, permanent housing has dwindled. The number of families exiting shelter has declined by nearly two-thirds since 2019. These trends are driven by many factors, including a confusing tangle of immigration laws, an inability for migrants to obtain work authorization from the federal government, an increase in the number of people coming to Massachusetts, and the lack of an affordable housing supply in our state.

We met newly arrived families seeking safety and shelter in MA with compassion & resources, but our shelter system is stretched thin.

With this state of emergency, I'm delivering an urgent appeal to the federal govt: remove barriers standing between new arrivals & opportunity. pic.twitter.com/BL0RXEOMPv

Let millions of unemployed, often uneducated, non-English speaking, impoverished people into the US and... what the hell did she expect? Those illegals are not going to go to small town America, they want big cities and Democrat run states due to the higher value of the handouts, .gov and otherwise, they get. Also more opportunities for criminal behavior.

I can't wait to see California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and their ilk go under giving handouts to the invading horde.

How does a person like this even exist and live to whatever age she is w/o any analytical and problem solving skills. It's like she thinks bandages are good for cuts to prevent infection and to aid healing so now she applies a bandage to some random place on her body when she catches the flu. Dumb fucking bitch.

Can we talk about: who's paying for this safety and shelter and resources, how much are we talking about and for how long, where is the affordable housing going to be and who's paying for it, what is the unemployment rate for citizens and residents (people living here legally) and where are the opportunities for them and why are we providing opportunities and the absence of the former to the "new arrivals" who are here illegally, and why don't we just stop new arrivals at least until your resources that we (the public) pay for is no longer stretched thin?

She'll bus them up and dump them all off along the I-95 corridor. Can't have 'these people' clogging up Boston and the Cape.

All these blue states & cities that declared themselves sanctuaries are now going apeshit, because a few busloads of illegals were dumped on their doorstep.

The border states have had to deal with this crap on a daily basis for years. And not just a few busloads. Sometimes hundreds every day.

Governor Healey,

What about a little compassion and start worrying about your homeless and addicted state residents, the ones that are CITIZENS and at one time were probably productive residents CONTRIBUTING to the well being and betterment of society.

Seems to me that you FIRST responsibility is to the residents of Massachusetts.

It's amusing that her preferred solution isn't to close the border...it's to give the illegals "opportunities." In other words, incentivize everyone who hasn't yet crossed the border to get moving. Brilliant.

I've articulated this before. These crying sanctuary cities and states need to realize all of these illegals or what ever tag want to put on then did NOT cross the Rio Grand to migrate to a Texas boarder town. No the came to the United States, which the last time I looked include these bitching cities.

You made your bed, live with it. It's all on Biden.

BINGO!!!!
The Texas Governor sent 50, that's five - zero to Martha's Vinyard a while back, and they had to call out the National Guard to deal with the "problem". Meanwhile Texas is dealing with hundreds a day.

I'm sick of this shit! I haven't voted for any one of these assholes or their dumb ass policies, yet I have to deal with about 40 of them living in the front lobby of my police station.

Lightfoot wanted this shit, "oh, we're a sanctuary city!" When Big-bad Trump wanted to jettison the illegals. Now we're dealing with this shit? Put them in a van and send them to her house. She wants them, well... She gets them.

How many of these cities (Boston, NYC, etc.) have declared they will overturn their "sanctuary city" status? It seems like they simply want federal funding to continue their dysfunctional "santuary city" status. How many of these cities have acknowledged the error of their ways and pledged to support tougher immigration standards and laws?

No. Not to D.C. NO to Philly. Not to Chicago.

Send them back where they came from.

And send all their American resident ( I won't call them citizens) facilitators along with them.

And when they're ready to immigrate, not illegally invade, come in through Ellis Island.

So Mayor Adams of NY said that cuts would be forthcoming to help the migrant situation.

So he will perhaps cut jobs, no raises for city employees, cut funding for God knows what meanwhile hurting American citizens just to help illegal immigrants.

The U.S. government will, I bet, give NYC or NY money and the illegals will never see a dime.

Grifters.

Foxnews.com: Massachusetts officials ask residents to lend a 'helping hand' and offer migrants 'an extra room' Massachusetts declared state of emergency in response to a migrant housing shortage

Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll asked state residents Wednesday to open their doors and assist housing migrants after the Democratic governor, Maura Healey, declared a state of emergency Tuesday as the state is faced with a vast shortage of shelters.

"Most importantly, if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family. Housing and shelter is our most pressing need and become a sponsor family," Driscoll said.

Please consider hosting a family.
- Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll

Driscoll's comments echoed Healey's statement Tuesday in calling on residents to "offer a helping hand."

"This is a national issue that demands a national response," Healey said during a press conference at the State House in Boston. "In the meantime, we’re simply asking the federal government to use the tools already available to give these brave parents a chance to work and support their families. At the same time, we’re calling on everyone in Massachusetts to come together, help us meet this moment in our state, and offer a helping hand."

Their calls for assistance from residents come after Healey announced that a state of emergency exists "due to rapid and unabated increases in the number of families with children and pregnant people — many of them newly arriving migrants and refugees — living within the state but without the means to secure safe shelter in our communities."

The state said there are nearly 5,600 families or more than 20,000 people in the state shelter system. Massachusetts is a right to shelter state, and must provide emergency housing to families in need.

Healey said there are numerous contributing factors to the migrant crisis, including "federal policies on immigration and work authorization" as well as a lack of affordable housing and the end of COVID-era programs.

Healey said she hopes the emergency declaration will provide more federal funding, and expedite work permits for immigrants.

The governor's press office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Exactly how many of these illegal migrant single males has Driscoll, Healey, and their ilk taken in and given a spare room next to their children or themselves?

NYC "mayor" Adams gave his boo-hoo speech yesterday as well. I kept laughing, this isn't a crisis, you invited them with your sanctuary bullshit.

It brings to mind a teenager telling everyone they're throwing a keg party at their parents house, then being surprised when so many people show up and trash the house.
