249 Sanctuary City Officials Put On Notice, Could Face Jail Time

America First Legal (AFL) has initiated a multi-faceted campaign to address what it views as widespread violations of federal immigration law by sanctuary jurisdictions across the United States.
The organization announced its actions, which include legal notifications, a new interactive resource, and investigative requests, aimed at holding officials accountable for policies AFL claims undermine federal enforcement and put American communities at risk.
AFL has sent notices to 249 elected officials in sanctuary jurisdictions, warning them of potential legal consequences for interfering with federal immigration enforcement.

The notifications emphasize the supremacy of federal law under the U.S. Constitution, outlining criminal and financial liabilities for actions such as concealing or shielding illegal aliens.
The notices cite the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which prohibits local and state governments from restricting communication with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) about an individual’s immigration status.
Additionally, AFL highlighted that harboring or shielding illegal aliens is a federal crime punishable by imprisonment.

How would this work? This is a body that can identify and illuminate these bad actors but wouldn't prosecute themselves? The prosecuting body would be federal DoJ? State level? Either?

What's the process for convicting them as criminals? Does it depend on Trump's administration or can it be done by the book regardless?

Legally Iowa does not allow cities or counties to declare themselves sanctuary areas. I am more concerned about areas such as Iowa City/Johnson County that have a huge Liberal/foreign student population being able to just release any of these criminals before federal authorities can detain and process them.

Shutting down the border day one, returning to the stay in Mexico policy asap. Deporting the low-lying fruit known and convicted alien criminals. Setting up tents at the border sites and expediting hearings for legit asylum seekers etc. I have no problem with.

Prosecuting public officials thag refuse to cooperate or actively hinder ICE from getting arrested illegals will be interesting. Yeah it puts local LE in a spot I think they should follow federal law in this case. Prosecute The first several days down and the rest will fall in line.
