I know virgin margarita's are common. But this was a first for me - I made an ice slurry using ice and Doc Swami margarita mix (just used a blender). Then added sparkling mineral water (san pelligrino) to a liquid, not slushy texture.

Wow, that really hit the spot on a hot day. It's like an ice cold margarita soda.

I know, nothing new to you guys probably. But it was the first time for me. The sparkling water makes it a different drink to me - more than just a virgin margarita.

I haven't had a drink in over five years, and I don't miss it. I very, very rarely get the occasional "damn, a ____ would be really nice right now" and usually that blank is a margarita. Not for the booze, but I really do miss the way a great margarita tastes. I'm a total sucker for lime anything, and I think that's mostly what I miss with margaritas. I may try this out this weekend, thanks for the post. Smile

I make virgin Mohitos for the better half. Topo Chico is a far better mineral water for that. We have fresh mint growing in the garden and just squeezed more limes this afternoon.

Mmm… Love some mojitos! Cool

Funny, at the previous house we had mint growing wild. It was a pest, I thought, and I didn’t know what to do with it. It’s a shame I didn’t know about mojitos then!

Thanks to konata, though, I’m adding margarita mix and mineral water to the grocery list!

Doesn’t need to be sparkling min water. Could be just soda water. Or tonic water. I just like sparkling min water and buy it in bulk from Costco. I love it with ice and lemon juice (no sugar added). The margarita mix was just a nice treat since I had some leftover from visiting guests.

Zingzang with a non-alcohol DosEquis lime/salt beer and a salted rim sure sounds good right about now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yes, I’ve never tried that, but I think I will- I like the zingzang sour mix, but I just got turned on to agalima jalapeño marg mix. It’s really not that spicy, but it gives you a little bit of that burn on your tongue. Just barely enough to let you know it’s there. I think I’ll try that with some sparkling water. Thanks for the idea!
