Hi again.

My Huawei phone battery is dying fast. No longer holding charge for any significant amount of time.

I'm in the Fourth World and it does show nowadays.

The phone has been excellent fir my purposes but being a Huawei.... the official service office vanished in thin air a while ago.

Wondering if , as a rule of thumb, you guys replace a phone when the battery quits or stick with them through a second battery.

No such thing as those magnificent update/replace plans. Our phone companies survive selling units instead of providing decent service.

Thanks.

If the battery is easily removable then I would try a new battery given your location. IF you have to take the entire phone apart with specialized tools to replace the battery, I would just buy a new phone as they never seem to be the same after that, unless you have the apple store replace it on an apple or along those lines.

I had the battery replaced on a five year old Samsung that I like just fine for about $80. I'm really happy with that decision.

^^^ I would agree. If the battery is easy to replace, I'd take that route first.

Something else I'll throw out there. My Samsung S9 battery started draining really fast. I thought possibly that the battery was finally going to crap, but decided to just do a "cleansing" of the phone first. I went through and deleted all the worthless apps that I never use. I uninstalled dozens of apps. My battery life is now just like new. Just a thought.

You didn't say the model but YouTube has some how to vids and Amazon has the batteries.

iFixit has at least one how to Huawei guide for battery replacement.

I've got a fading S9+ Android, needs multiple charges every day. Have eliminated/turned off most functions I don't use.

Just reviewed the 'ifixit' guide, spiffy site. I believe the $80 Batteries + fee will be a preferable choice, I've given my 10 left techno-thumbs the week off.

If you like the phone and will keep it for a few more months, I say replace the battery.

Usually the replacement isn't terrible, and the tools are cheap (and once you've bought the tools, you'll have it available for fixing all sorts of electronic devices.

I gave my daughter my old cell and the battery finally took a crap in it.
Battery replacement has come a long way since I looked into it last.
If you look around most will have the tools and whatever else is needed to do the job in a battery kit.
There are plenty of videos also, some better than others.

Due to time and all that I just sprang for another phone but will replace the battery and keep it as a spare.
If it turns out good I'll tackle a screen replacement on another.

Tools aren´t available down here, it´s a tiny market for phones other than 3 or 4 brands. Huawei is not one of them.

You have convinced me to try to have the battery replaced WHILE giving me more time to think of replacing the phone. Then it will become a spare unit.

The phone has served me well.

Damned thingies cost here at least twice than in the US.
