I’ve wanted a nice high power for awhile but yesterday in a fit of unrestrained enthusiasm I picked up a Christensen Arms MPR in 338 Lapua. Also picked up an Accu-Tac heavy duty bipod.

In a week or so I am going to make a decision on some optics. The last piece of the puzzle will be to take out a second mortgage and get some ammo.

Will be a few weeks before I can go shoot the beast - waiting until monsoon season is over.

Sounds like a blast.
Never been behind a 338, but got 6 shots on a Barrett M99

Fun to shoot, but not to feed.

I'm not seeing a problem here (other than I didn't do the same thing).

Let us know how the glass turns out.

How much per round? I was pricing .357 magnum, over a dollar a round. Wow
I bought some .38 specials.

Congrats! Damn the cost, life is short. I’ve been thinking lately about putting together a rifle I can take advantages of wide open spaces with also. Great place to do long range shooting. .338 is a fantastic round for taking advantage of that. Besides, we have Lapua and Berger here, so you can support local manufacturing.

Our shooting range in western Colorado used to make money for improvements by holding a “Hunter Sight-In” for those who drew tags in our part of the state. We charged $5/rifle to sit at a concrete bench with the hunter with a spotting scope and help him (or her) zero their rifle. Must say, I dreaded it when the guy would pull out a .338 Lapua. They obviously had muzzle brakes and I believe the concussion, when it went off, would separate your rib cage from the pleura. Wink
