Another Bourbon question…
Well it’s that time of year and with Christmas right around the corner I have 2 friends who like bourbon and I’d like to surprise them with something that they may not have had but is good.

I don’t drink bourbon so I’m reaching out to the SF braintrust for advise. I will be in NH and their liquor prices are about the lowest I’ve seen so with that info and the link here:

https://www.liquorandwineoutle...&AvailableByBottle=0

What bourbon would you recommend in the approximate $75-100 price range?

Thanks!

If you are stuck with what is in stock with the link you sent if you drop to the $50 to $75 range the Penelope Barrel Strength at $59.99 and the Penelope Toasted at $62.99 have been very good bottles.

The New Riff Single Barrel at $56.99 has been good as well.

As BigSwede said if you can find a Eagel Rare they'll thoroughly enjoy that.

From what I can see on the link website I would go with the Bookers, the Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea or perhaps the Calumet Farm 10 year. The Bookers isn't too common, only comes our about 4 times a year and is usually pretty good. The Jefferson's is unique and they may never have had it, I have tried it and its ok. Can't go wrong with Eagle Rare at that price but thats not really all that hard to find so they may have had it.

Edited to add: I didn't see Col E. H Taylor on that site but if you can get that it would be my highest recommendation. It is my favorite bourbon. Hard to find around my area but definitely worth the hunt.

Col EH Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Small Batch or the Single Barrel. As those are often allocated then the Old Forester 1897 Bottled-in-Bond is an equally tastey bottle and more available. Any of the OF Whiskey Row bottles should be good.

The Knob Creek higher end expressions have good reviews but I have not tried those yet. Standard KC is pretty good.

Willett, IMO, is not worth the money. The Balcones American Single Malt is delicious though not a bourbon.

The special releases of 1792 should be GTG.

I didn't go through the whole list, but if there is any Henry Mckenna 10y/O 100 proof, that is an excellent bourbon. I also keep and enjoy 1792 bourbon.

I’ve only come across this twice, so it may not be available and may be something they haven’t had.

I am a bourbon neophyte, but I really like it. Nice flavor and pretty smooth considering it is barrel proof around 125. I paid $75 or so at Costco, that includes the WA liquor taxes which are some of the highest.

We keep the knob creek 9 in the house, but will buy the 12 year when we see it. The 12 is everything we like in the 9, but just better.

I’ve looked at the link you shared.
There is a lot of good to great to phenomenal bourbons available.

How much would you like to spend? That will narrow the search down.

Off the top of my head, Colonel EH Taylor or phenomenal bourbons! Good luck, trying to find one.
Booker is a great bourbon
Bakers, another great choice
I’m a huge fan of the Barrell Craft line of Bourbon! I have not had a bad taste from them ever!
Widow Jane is another good one.

The big thing is finding out how much you want to spend.

Great suggestions guys. Keep ‘em coming!

As I said initially I’d like to spend around $70-100.

Willet Pot would be a good gift at the $96 price point, it's interesting, good bourbon something they could display if that's their thing.

If you can find it for around $100, I recommend a bottle of Blanton's.
