I know 1.75" is ideal but very few pants will accommodate that width. I see more and more Nylon type belts. Does anyone wear an additional belt for their firearms? as in 2 atta time? What works for you? This message has been edited. Last edited by: downtownv, _________________________

One option is a stiff polymer pseudo-leather belt like a Maxpedition Liger belt. There are also many, many nylon belt that fit the bill, the best ones for carrying a gun are two thick layers of webbing with either multiple rows of stitching for stiffness or a plastic stiffener sandwiched between the layers. How stiff you actually want the belt to be is personal preference. The Wilderness Instructor Belt popularized the nylon style and the stiffness options - they have options for 3 rows of stitching, 5 rows, or a polymer stiffener. I think every pair of pants I have except a couple of pairs of expensive dress slacks will work with a 1.5" belt and some will work with a 1.75" belt. Casual and dress belts are usually 1" or 1.25". You can get a 1.25" Liger belt and some of the Wilderness belts are available in a 1.25" width. This message has been edited. Last edited by: maladat,

London Bridge Trading Rigger's Belt LINK, but it's 1 3/4". Mine fit my jeans and khakis fine though.

Go ahead punk, make my day |
The Wilderness CSM lined Instructor Gun Belt is the best, for me. I have also used their 3 and 5 stitch when first carrying lighter pistols (PPS, G43), but the CSM / polymer insert lined is far superior for weight bearing and secure feel, with no added bulk. https://www.thewilderness.com/...nal-instructor-belt/ I have one for my specific fit for carrying a pistol (measured length) and one of their 'easy fit', which works better for carrying with and without sometimes (more adjustment of length available, but also more tongue) when flying.

I have a Wilderness, it is excellent. However for CC I would recommend a Kore Essentials belt. 1/4" adjustments. -c1steve

This. Wilderness has been around for a LONG time and continues to be the gold standard for the rigger-belt style. For something a bit more modern, I've had a Ranger Belt from Ares Gear since they first came on the scene and the Cobra Buckles were just getting introduced. Good stuff as well.

A lot of people like the new Nexbelt. I've been thinking about it, but there've been a couple complaints on Amazon about the release levers breaking, which makes it impossible to remove the belt w/o tools. Could be a bit of a problem if nature calls and you can't get your belt loose "America is at that awkward stage. Does anyone actually own a Kore belt? I like the adjustment design, are they "trimable" for the excess material? The wilderness looks good too. _________________________

I run trains! |
I have one and it’s ok, but it’s no where near as rigid as a good leather belt. I find that anything bigger than my 43X seems to drag it down. YMMV Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

Just idly perusing their belts, they would appear to have belts that are specifically "gun belts." Is that what you have? I'm still on the search for The Perfect Gun Belt. Or at least one that's close I have a 5.11 Tactical 1 .5" Double-Duty TDU Belt that's reversible--black and coyote. The nature of the buckle makes it a bit tricky to get it as tight as you might like. It's very comfortable to wear, and holds my Colt Defender with a mag on the other side up just fine. A bigger gun, such as one of my full-size 1911's: Not so much. I have a Beltman leather belt that holds the 1911's up fine, but they don't have the adjustablity and they're somewhat more uncomfortable, compared to the webbing belts. I have a Pitbull Tactical ranger-style belt from back when they still offered belts. Two layers of webbing and a stiffener. That thing is hella stiff! So stiff it really isn't practical to thread it through both holster and pants loops. It's a cool belt, but, as an EDC belt it was a fail. So the search continues... In the yahd, not too fah from the cah |
I have a few of these belts and I like them. I've found most pants will take them, from jeans to uniform pants. https://www.511tactical.com/td...-plastic-buckle.html But if you're set on 1.5 here is the same belt in that width: https://www.511tactical.com/td...-plastic-buckle.html

That’s funny. I completely missed the typo in the OP. My brain (or lack of the same) automagically changed the ‘l’ to a ‘p’ without me even noticing it. I thought maybe the OP had been fixed, but nope, it still said lant. I’ll note that on my keyboard at least, the ‘l’ is pretty close to the ‘p’.

Just for the hell of it |
I like my Wilderness Instructors 5 stitch. Don't need the extra metal on it for emergency repelling of whatever but it's still a great belt. I also have two leather belts. One thick and a nicer one that's thinner but still stiff. Overal the Wilderness one is the most comfortable and works the best but the nylon doesn't fit when you have to wear something nicer than jeans. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Ha ha well I had to look it up! Lant - Wikipedia [Search domain en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lant] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lant Lant is aged urine. The term comes from Old English land, which referred to urine in general. Collected urine was put aside to ferment until used for its chemical content in many pre-industrial processes, such as cleaning and production of gunpowder. History. _________________________

Depends how I'm dressed. For something that doesn't require a dress code, then I use a nylon belt like the 5.11 double thickness belt with a plastic buckle; it's got two colors, which makes it reversible for different clothing. I went to the wider web belts a long time ago, and it immediately relieved some back pain. I don't know why. I've stuck with them since. The double thick belt is a bit stiffer and will easily support a holster, or whatever else someone might want to carry. I like the belts becasue they pass through metal detectors without having to remove the belt every time, an added plus. They also hold up a lot better than a leather belt, and last a lot longer.

NexBelt. They make a specific model for CC. Mine carries a full size 1911 and two spare mags great! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Love mine. It's going on 3 yrs. old and it's holding up fine w/ my P239. The only poor reviews I saw were for the ratchet system's magnet not being big enough but they went to a bigger magnet since then, just before I bought mine. The kore belts are similar and I hear good things about those also.

Fighting the good fight |
I primarily carry with nylon rigger's/instructor's belts. The Wilderness 5 Stitch Instructors Belt is one of the best of these offerings. https://www.thewilderness.com/...nal-instructor-belt/ 1.75" is pretty standard for these types of belt, but they do offer 1.5" as well, if pants compatibility is a concern.
