6'4" in 2007 Mazda MX-5 (Rental Car)? I Guess Not! Login/Join

Friends, as I look to book a rental convertible for a vacation, I found a 2007 Mazda MX-5 in my destination city. The Turo app does not allow any direct connection to the owner, apart from booking the rental. So, I'm looking to the members here for size opinions. I would rent for three days, only for casual driving in the vacation site, primarily in the Smoky Mountains. Do you think a long-legged galoot might fit in this well-regarded vehicle?

I’m 5’11”. 220. I’ve had two of them. A 1997 and a 2007. I barely fit in either one. I’d think at 6’4” you would be very uncomfortable at best. Not sure your feet will be able to manage the pedals.
I’d buy another in two minutes if I was smaller. Very reliable and fun to drive.

I rode in a friends MX5 'one' time. I'm 6'4" 250 and if he hadn't had the top off I would have never gotten into it, and even at that I seriously doubt I could have ever fit behind the wheel.

I owned a 2003 for about two years. I'm 6'1" 210 and was "snug" in the car. My 6'5" son could barely fit in the passenger side.
In spirited driving I would sometimes get my left leg pinned between the door & steering wheel when shifting gears. I sold the car before I drove it off the road...

I'm 6'2" and sat in one...once. Way too small both in length and width for my preferences. They are nice to look at though. I'd probably look at a Mustang convertible or something a bit bigger.

Once upon a time , I took my 1991 Miata in for an oil change..... The young mechanic who came up front to drive my car on the hoist had to lower the top to get in. He looked over the windshield to drive it into the shop. !!! He was about 6'5". Looked like he was driving a go-cart.

I don't know if the newer models are that tight !

No go for me at 6'2" and 185lbs and a 34" inseam.

I could do it, but it wouldn't be as enjoyable as a Mx5 should be.

In high school, a friend had a 1993 Miata, I had a VW Jetta. We traded cars for the drive home once. I'm 6'3, had to have the top down to with my head above the roofline, the top of the windscreen blocked part of my vision, could barely maneuver the clutch to shift gears. Unless they've grown significantly, you'll never fit for more than a brief drive.

My wife’s current car is the Mazda built fiat spider which I suspect is roughly the same size. My friend who is 6’3” and I used it a few times. The only way for him
To get in was with the top down. He could tolerate it for an hour ride max.

I have been told 6'5 fit in a BRZ. Similar car. Try one.

None, it's Turo, a private rental app like Air BnB for cars.

I had a '90 and at 6'2" 210lbs I fit perfectly, but I have a 31" inseam and I'm not sure 33" would have worked. There was almost no extra room, and I removed the visors to be able to see better through the windshield, but it's a roadster, not a sedan. Perfect size for C-stock autocross. More room in that Miata than in the current generation Vette.

No BRZ convertible made yet. It’s too tiny anyway.
Try a BMW Z convertible.

Correct, no BRZ convertible. If what is sought is a small, lightweight sports car, then try it.
It has plenty of headroom.

I'm 6'4" and, much to my surprise, I actually fit in a Honda S2000. But that was with the top down, and getting in and out was tricky. And it was over 25 years ago.
