I need help removing a tub stopper
I've watched all the videos and read all the articles I could, and none of them address how to remove the following tub stopper:

There don't appear to be any set screws, the top only rotates about 1/16 of a turn, the knob doesn't come off. I can't figure out how to remove this thing. Any ideas?

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

Hmmm... I think I've removed one like that before. Try putting it in the "closed" position then rotating it and pulling it straight up. That is, if you haven't already.

I tried that, but the thing only rotates a little bit, and still won't come off the post.

Are you going to be replacing it? If so I would turn harder even if you break it off. Then you can twist out the bottom and replace entire unit. Mine have the type of movement you are talking about but twist all the way out.

The whole unit is screwed into the drain body itself. When I have to clean the hair from my daughters shower, I spend about 10 minutes trying to remember exactly how it’s attached. After a few choice words, I remember. If the top knob will unscrew, you should be able to access the shaft and unscrew that also. That’s how I do her bathroom stopper.

Mine has a Philips head screw as shown.

Looks to be a cotter pin or a spring detent in the center of the shaft in the picture.

Don't know if looking at the other side would reveal any secrets.

Close stopper, put channel lock pliers and turn counter clock wise. It will unscrew from the tub shoe.
May squirt a little penetrating oil down the center first.
It will unscrew

Where should he place channel lock pliers?

Do I put the pliers on the knurled nob?

That worked! Thank you, rexles, for the tip! I'll spare you the picture of the hair thing I pulled out, but think NYC subway rat.

A daub of plumber's grease on the threads will help its future removal.
