We had been trading emails for a bit, she travelled to Europe to go back to France and was there for quite awhile before returning to the DFW area.

She wrote me an email today saying that she had suffered a pretty severe stroke back in February of 2020 and has lost the use of one hand.

That’s a major blow to Martine as she was an awesome piano player.

If I hear anything else I will let the group know. Jim was a great guy and for those of us that were friends it’s a loss that I still feel today.

Thank you for this update. Just a couple days ago I was thinking about JAllen and hoped that his spouse was still doing okay. I'm sorry to hear about her stroke.

Definitely agree about missing JAllen.

What a coincidence.

I was searching for a topic for a ham radio project on QRZ.com I'm working on and ran across one of his posts from years ago where he had answered the question someone else has posted.

Jim was just as much a frequent and wise poster on QRZ as he was here on SigForum.

You may pass on to her my email, as I have had a stroke and can give her some first person advise or answer any questions she may have . Just put Sigforum in the subject line.

I'm sorry to hear it, but kinda glad she's moved to where she's now living. The Hill Country is pretty good and consistently getting better when it comes to access to good medical help, but the big cities are still a little better if you need a doctor.

Thanks for letting us know how she’s doing. Sorry to hear she’s been dealing with some health problems. Jim was a special guy who was beloved by many. Tell her we wish her all the best.

Thank you for the information. Mr. Allen was a very close second to Para in giving character to SF. I do sometimes wonder how his widow has been doing. I hope that she heals completely.

RIP JALLEN.

I didn't know JALLEN other than reading his posts and then the finale, viewing his service.
I'm wishing Martine the best. So sorry to hear about the stroke and how it affects her piano playing. When piano is your life, that's a huge hit.

Greg, Please tell Martine she should feel free to caller e-mail me if she has any medical questions I might be able to help with. She will remember me from a few dinners with her and Jim in Old Town, San Diego.

I thought about her the other day when someone resurrected a thread JALLEN started. I hoped she was well and happy. Please give her our best wishes. JALLEN's commentary is missed here.

Aw man… I hope she will be able to continue to recover some mobility in that hand. I never got to meet Martine, but Jim and I crossed paths briefly in San Diego back in 2007. I never mentioned this to him, but I learned things from him during the brief conversations we had that made a massive positive impact on my life. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
