tleddyPet peeves about firearms in movies and TV
Recent TV shows:
1. Image of 1911 not cocked in possible suicide scene - problems include showing obviously .45 barrel and not cocked plus large entry wound in forehead; called 22 cal repeatedly.
2. Numerous shows with 1911s going in to firefight not cocked
3. Referring to shotguns as rifles and reverse
I annoy my wife by pointing out obvious (to me) firearms inconsistencies-what have you noticed that a decent gun person would have caught?

SigSentryI love Grosse Pointe Blank and it got a lot right but the opening scene was probably Hollywood trolling but still...

AI response:
Revolver Realism: Dan Aykroyd's character (Grocer) dual-wields standard 6-shot revolvers.
Magical Revolvers: In the opening hotel scene, Grocer unloads more than 20 continuous shots from his two revolvers without a single stress reload or use of speedloaders.

egregoreBottomless magazines in full auto weapons, almost never reloading.
In an episode of the 2018 FBI series a guy had a gun to a hostage's head. It was a S&W 5906,

Sharkey717Any full autos in the Walking Dead series especially after, I dunno season 5. Infinite rounds, no ejected casings. Cheap and lazy.

jljonesThe theatrics of the last couple of John Wick movies were about as bad as trying to watch the female detective’s gun handling in any given crime drama on NBC.

I have the opinion that any “normal” handgun caliber up to 45ACP, excepting a CNS head shot, will not have the elephant guns effect commonly shown. The effective head shot will drop the bad guy, maybe moving the head away from impact point.
Other opinion, please…

Steve in PANo one carry’s with a round in the chamber. Every time a semi-auto is deployed, the first thing you hear or see is them racking the slide.

tleddyMy 1911 carry guns have “Safety Fast” installed, allowing safe Condition One carry. Rack a round in chamber; physically move the hammer forward; a hammer block comes between the hammer and firing pin and the safety moves to the On-safe position.
Disengaging the safety moves the hammer to full cock and disengages the hammer block.
In the very many years I carried that system, never a failure! Over the years of frequent practice on the shooting range, there was never a failure, including holster work hundreds of times.

Especially when a bad guy is holding a struggling hostage with a cocked revolver at the hostages head and the finger is wrapped around the trigger. A good bean fart is all it takes to drop the hammer!

Pale HorseOne of the ones that pisses me off is when a guy gets shot and another guy takes a quick look and tells him it’s a “through and trough” so he’ll be fine and they just move on as though there’s zero chance of internal damage.
No doctor needed. Just put some duct tape on it you’ll be fine.

Gustofer^^^^^^^ Likewise, all you have to do to save their life is get the bullet out and maybe cauterize the entrance wound.

sourdough44I see scenes where the shooter has limited ammo, like one full magazine for whatever reason, then proceeds to ‘spray & pray’. After a bit they are out, now looking to pick up another gun, more ammo, or go to fist-d-cuffs.
If they were more careful, those 10 rounds would have lasted longer.
A related note, shooting many more rounds than the gun holds, no reloading.
