Looks good but you got a lot of real estate left on that plate, son!

I thought about that and started to go back for seconds but then thought ‘bacon in everything, maybe go light.’

Cornbread and greens. Damn if that doesn't take me back.

Cornbread and greens is a staple here.

I'll pour my greens over the cornbread and soak it down really good, then dash some vinegar based pepper sauce over it.

Love me some good Southern comfort food.

Oh yeah! I think you just inspired tonight’s dinner. Thanks.

I’ll add a scoop of cottage cheese. Doc recommended it for the calcium intake. And a big slice or 4 of tomato.

I can almost spit across the Mason Dixon line and family is German Jews (that settled in NYC). I'm the redneck of the family. I also have never had a collared green in my life.

Geese come in a gaggle.

Lions come in a pride.

Greens come in a mess.

One does not have a single collard green; one has a mess of greens.

And though it may come as a surprise, the term "pot likker" is not an insult. It's the water in which the greens are cooked.

This will be on the test. Except for the geese and lions stuff.

Skins, how about turnip greens?

My grandmother made a good living growing okra, snap peas, Silver Queen corn, tomatoes, mustards, collards and turnip greens after she retired.

We planted and harvested that field many years as children. Dropped off at grandmother's as soon as school was out. Had to go into the barn and collect hundreds of eggs every afternoon.

Chickens, ducks and guinea hens. Each type egg had its own use. You want to bake rich? Duck is the one to use. Makes the best 15 layer cake ever.

I learned how to farm and cook.

I can smell your plate from here.

No greens of any sort, I'm willing to try anything that has bacon as an ingredient though.

Looks tasty. I'll be right over.

And someone has to be the guy that says "where's your protection?" I guess today that guy is me.

Love mustard greens, ate them in bbq joints in CA Cool Still eat them here. Always preferred them to collard greens, more spicy, less bitter, IMO.
