I'll pour my greens over the cornbread and soak it down really good, then dash some vinegar based pepper sauce over it.

And though it may come as a surprise, the term "pot likker" is not an insult. It's the water in which the greens are cooked.

Mars_AttacksMy grandmother made a good living growing okra, snap peas, Silver Queen corn, tomatoes, mustards, collards and turnip greens after she retired.
We planted and harvested that field many years as children. Dropped off at grandmother's as soon as school was out. Had to go into the barn and collect hundreds of eggs every afternoon.
Chickens, ducks and guinea hens. Each type egg had its own use. You want to bake rich? Duck is the one to use. Makes the best 15 layer cake ever.
I learned how to farm and cook.
I can smell your plate from here.

oddballLove mustard greens, ate them in bbq joints in CA

Still eat them here. Always preferred them to collard greens, more spicy, less bitter, IMO.
