BamaJeepsterCast iron ID/Value
Any info on this cast iron skillet? We have a couple and wife wants to sell this one - it was left behind by the owner of a previous house we lived in, so no background information on it.
Only markings - Made in USA, No 8-B, 10 1/4 IN (7)

joatmonvNot sure at all on origin.
Honestly, I'd keep it Bama. Looks like a decent piece of iron.

lastmanstandingIt says made in USA so that indicates it was made after 1961. That's the year the Federal Trade Commission required cookware to have the country of origin stamped on it.
Other than that I'm not sure of the manufacturer. Looks like a nice thick piece of iron and would be great as a chicken fryer or deep fryer in general as it will retain the heat well. Looking at the seasoning it looks as if it's seen some duty as a deep fryer. I'd hang on to it.

Thanks for the links and comments guys, I'll see if I can get her to hang on to it - we actually have 2 others same size/depth.
Bonus cool - I was born and raised in Birmingham.

gearhoundsBirmingham’s are especially robust and less prone to warping over time. They do need a bit more heat up time but are excellent pans.
