Now is the best time to visit the northern gulf coast. Temps in the mid-60's, low humidity, dry, cheap hotel rates and the fish are biting.

I'm don't fish much anymore but warm weather, low humidity, and cheap rates seem like a pretty good combination. The wife likes Maui but we both hate the travel time and we both hate the socialist state that Hawaii has become. Northern Florida seems like a very viable option.

Brother I hear ya. I leave the Flint area behind and head south. I spend my days in your neck of the woods. Don’t forget Long Boat Key and St Armand’s.

Residency at Ft. Walton Beach and four fun-filled years in Biloxi. Other than the odd hurricane, prehistoric-sized bugs and tropical heat, a nice place to live.

Before Ivan, we lived in a private subdivision with a private marina near perdido key. We would drop the boat in Thursday afternoon and not take it out til Monday afternoon.

We seldom got in our vehicles during the weekend. We played on the boat and would go eat at all the restaurants with boat access. If it wasn’t within walking distance, or accessible by boat, we didn’t go there. My brother and I would fish offshore and be back before the wives woke up. We would clean the fish and head back out on the water.

The hurricane hit, and while our house was fine, the area was destroyed. It never was the same.
We moved north, about 20 miles Big Grin. Started having kids, travel baseball etc.

When the kids get through school we are going to move back to Perdido key. We have a condo on the key but it stays rented out so we only stay down there about 20 days of the year.

I've been planning a few snowbird seasons, 1 in the South TX Pharr-McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area, and another in Southern AZ from Tucson to Yuma.

I've been all over what I call the Mainland Florida area but never spent time in the Panhandle Gulf area. I think I'll have to rectify this soon.

Thank you for posting this.

I think you will like it. Not at all like the Florida penninsula. Come on over to the Mississippi Gulf Coast as well. Relaxed and laid back.

Yep and no rocks. We do have to have heavy equipment to remove the sand from the Highway that runs along the beach for 28 miles. Strong south wind will do that. If you have kids sand will be in everything. Other than that it is avoidable.
