Out of curiosity, have you considered a French press? It is more hands on than a coffee maker, but so much better. I picked up an electric kettle to boil the water but a teapot on the stove will work too. In all, it takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. I do understand that free time in the mornings is rare and a maker is much more convenient.

Agreed.

I had a Keurig at home for convenience, but the coffee it made was nothing special. Ex-wife wanted it while we were divying up property during the amicable divorce several years ago, so I let her have it, and didn't bother replacing it in my new house.

For home use, a pour-over with paper filters, quality whole bean coffee, an automatic burr grinder, and an electric kettle is almost as quick and convenient as the Keurig with its K Cups, while being cheaper per cup, and making vastly higher quality coffee. (I also have a French press, but it doesn't see much use at all any more, since the coffee it makes is not any better than the pour-over and it takes noticeably more time to clean the press mechanism than it does to toss out a filter and grounds.)

At work, I still use a Keurig, again for convenience. And despite making a middling cup of coffee, it's still leagues better than the stale, burnt Folgers that's available from the commercial coffee maker in the breakroom. Once it eventually breaks, I'll probably just invest in a cheaper duplicate of my home setup, with a pour-over, kettle, and grinder.

My survey size of precisely two K155 "Small Office" style brewers yields an exact two year life-span for a family of three. I have two 12oz cups a day on average, my one one 10oz up and our kid maybe 2-3 12oz cups per week.

Not overly used considering the marketing of "Small office".

Best price available on our first was $199 direct from Keurig. Two years later it was $249, again direct. We were once again at the two year point when it stopped working and prices in 2022 were $299, best I could find.

Nope, not doing that again. Got a Cuisinart combo setup (drip on one side, K-cup on the other) after reading Consumer Reports ratings of K-cup machines.. $129 net price after using CapitalOne's Chrome plugin for best price and promo rebate. It's a little slower to brew because it has a very short warm-up time vs. instant on the K155 but it's SUPER consistent in output.

At less than half the price, if it last two years I'll be on the good side of the equation.

Ours used less than once a day but is at least five maybe six years old. I make sure only filtered water is used, that maybe a contributing factor.

Perhaps I'm buying into the hype, but the newer system with 5 nozzles vs the older system with a single one in the middle has made world of difference in strength and flavor.

went from K cup to Nesspresso here. I bought mine on Ness website. The coffee is WAY better than k cup and brews it in @ 30 seconds from turn on to first sip. it is my goto in the AM and then as it is brewing, I am boiling hot water in teh microwave for a pour over of black tea or earl grey and that is my morning routine.

thanks, shawn

I've been using the same Keurig K-Select brewer in my last two offices for around 8 years. Probably brews 10+ cups per week. No issues at all.

Not nearly as good as when I had easy access to a sink to rinse my burr grinder and drip coffee maker parts, but the Keurig offers zero cleanup, so in the grand scheme of things, the coffee is acceptable.
