Question for those knowledgeable about Mercedes and manual tranny options
Quick question.

Was this car (380SL) ever offered with a manual transmission in the states?

I believe this version was 260SL? But I don’t like the front end as much.

I don't think the 260SL was ever offered in the US
You might find a graymarket import.
I've never seen a R107 with a manual, and if there way, it would likely just be on the 6cyl variant.

Wiki shows the 280 or 350SL as being offered with a manual

I briefly had a W113 280SL [for a couple weeks] and it was a blast. Not sure how the 280 would be in the larger/heavier R107.

Interesting. I’ve seen a few 260SL or cars that look a lot like it on the road. I just assumed they are rare. I never knew they were not officially imported.

While looking at 380SL offerings on FB Marketplace I came across a clean and very dusty example that had the original window sticker! It cost a cool $45k back in 1984!!!! Eek

It’s one of my father’s favorite cars so I’ve always wanted to find one, fix it up and give it to him.

Based on inflation and other economic stuff a buck from 1984 is worth $2.96 today, so that means it would cost $133K today... not far off the mark of a new SL...

Had a 80 and 82 380SL, Yellow with Tan interior and a dark brown top, White with Tan Leather and a black top.. Both automatics, can't remember seeing a manual in the states, likely you would in a Euro edition.
