I'm thinking they put some kind of bird snack on the camera to get the eagle to walk or fly to it for a closeup. You can see people standing there as the bird takes the camera.
I'm thinking it must have been a cell phone that was light enough for the bird to carry... and, perhaps the owner used a 'where's my phone' app on his iPad to find and recover it. Whatever, it's very cool!
