Wall Street and the Hedgies are playing the game by the rules (which, of course, they wrote.) The Redditers are playing it against some very old, well know rules. I don't think the government is going to hold off on dropping the hammer on them because of some perception that short selling is somehow wrong.

I suspect a few key Redditors are about to find out just how anonymous the internet ain't.

True - but gotta give it to them - they have brass balls and kudo's to fighting back against the Hedge Fund machine and Wall Street.

BB is Black Berry, not Blockbuster.

BB was known for making cell phones in the early 2000's. Reality though, they were really good at making lightweight, secure, closed environment operating systems.

They've pivoted their business and are really focusing on their software. Their software is targeting the auto (particularly, electric vehicles) industry to provide the operating system.

They recently just settled a patent lawsuit and their stock popped on the news. Of course, this limited success attracted short selling hedge funds, and now the stock price is running as Redditors trim their profits out of GameStop and rotate into the next (unlikely) squeeze.

And they can enjoy those kudos and Reddit stardom from minimum security Club Fed while serving their sentences and reminiscing about that time they had $13 million dollars in the bank before the Feds seized it.

(And many of their fellow white collar prisoners would be members of the financial system elite, so they'd have to watch their back on the squash court so they don't get jumped by the Bernie Madoff Boys as payback for raging against the hedge fund machine.)

I miss JAllen weighing in on these threads. This is fascinating to watch, I will be on the sidelines for this one. I have been reading about it all day.

There are some millionaires made this week that bought in at $4. I admire the reddit gang that had confidence to hold on thru $200 and $300. I would have cashed out way earlier.

I don't think what's happening with GME will be repeated with BB or AMC. The difference is GME had over 100% of the shares shorted. I am suspicious of anyone in Wall Street calling out fraud, or trying to sick the SEC on the reddit group. I really think they caught Melvin Hedge Fund with their pants down. I don't think the reddit group is driving it all by themselves though, I think there are multiple Hedge Funds that swooped in on their side also.

The volatility is going to be epic tomorrow and it could all come crashing down in seconds.

I have a few SIGs.

I agree with Louis also.

This kid is the hero on reddit known as DeepF**ckingValue and is up $35 million on his trade.

He lays it all out in this video from 5 months ago.

Entertaining video. Saagar Enjeti (on The Hill) is all over the hedge funds, SEC, and Nasdaq all of whom suddenly see a crying need for investigations.

I’m not actually smart enough to know how right, or wrong, he is. He is certainly not on the side of the wall street elites

I had a similar thought. Fuck the investment firms though, nobody cares when it’s them manipulating stocks.

Initially they thought it had gone private, but Reddit banned it.

The dip has already recovered, but expect more bloodshed.

Word is that /wsb wasn't banned, but the moderators took it offline to counter the thousands of spam and chat bots.

Well, finally, something in this thread that makes sense.

It's not every day you get to tell the SEC to eat a dick, at least when you're certain they're hearing you, that is. Razz

So... For the uneducated among us...

Who is actually paying you when the stock goes down? If it was $10 and you short it and it goes to $1, how do you get your $9? You still only have stock worth $1
