I have been pulled over before and had to tell the LEO that he'd have to give me a minute to remember exactly how many firearms were in my truck at the time. Smile

You know, if you had 2 pair of socks, you'd probably know where they are.

If you have 25 pair of socks, it's easier for one of them to fall behind the dryer and not notice.

Not lost one, but definitely left my duty gun in the secure box in the fingerprint room. Then walked said badguy across the street to the magistrate and into the jail. I realized it when I got to the lock boxes in the “cage” at the jail where you normally lock your gun before entering the jail.

Puckered, but I had a revolver on my ankle. Went back to the PD and got my pistol.

Everyone, and I mean everyone forgets their pistol once at the jail in their career.

lost a bb gun crossing a pond on a raft my older brother tried to dive down and get it, terrible day for me. I was young and knew my parents couldn't afford another. being without a bb gun was not much fun where I lived.

Just remembered "losing" one that was never more than a few feet away. Slow day working at the range, I got to do a little pistol shooting. When it was time to call the line I put the gun in my range bag. I guess to avoid what I would soon THINK happened, I zipped the gun into one of the sort of hidden pockets of the bag instead of the normal spots for them.

With the line change finished I make the range hot again, go over to my bag and the gun's not where I expect it to be. So of course the brain immediately goes to the worst place. I'm checking and rechecking the pouches and pistol pockets. Brain going a thousand miles per hour. Looking around towards the parking lot to see if anyone is racing away. Running through my head who I saw walk past the bag, sick to my stomach. Check, recheck, recheck again.... finally think to look in the hidden pocket. "You #@&^% idiot." Roll Eyes

Yep.

Luckily, mine was at the very end of the day. I walked in one door of the jail to handle something (not with a prisoner), then walked out a different door, got in my car, and went home. Realized when I got home that my holster was empty and my handgun was still in the lock box at the front of the jail.

From then on, the car keys went into the lockbox with the gun, so I couldn't drove off without it.

That's the closest I've ever come to "losing" a gun, although I knew where it was the whole time.
