ASSA ABLOY is acquiring Spectrum HHI, adding Kwikset, Baldwin and a few smaller commercial lock manufacturers to the massive ASSA ABLOY brand spread. I work for ASSA ABLOY, the corporate parent of Yale, Sargent, Norton, Corbin Russwin, Adams Rite, HES, Medeco, Securitron, Emtek, August, ....

Once you decide on the particular brand, I'd go online to see what the prices are there. You may decide to get a step up as the selection will be better and you can order extra keys for future use. Next as mentioned is the mounting to make the best use of the door frames you have. That's probably the greatest weakness, from a practical sense, not the resistance to lock picking. Most criminals will hope someone didn't lock the door first and a close second will be a strong kick to break the frame or whatever is weakest. Remember, unless you have some special situation, you're not trying to keep James Bond out, just the local trash with very low technical skills and methods.
We went to a Schlage keyless system front and back, love it. Bought at HD or Lowes, cant recall. No more keys for the kids to lose, no more keys in my pocket.
Every year and half change the 9 volt battery good to go.

I can attest to the effectiveness of this. I was locked out of my old house, and I kicked numerous times, and even tried a 5 lb sledge hammer for a while, all to no avail. I had started working on removing a glass pane before I realized that I could access through a rarely used door in the back of the laundry room.

You would be amazed how well a low-skilled attack like a rake works. Most people can learn in an hour. Guess that investment just isn’t worth it with a lot of crooks.
I think most vendors are starting to put in security pins hopefully - stops that raking crap.

Because you can “program” it yourself, they stick it in everything as convenience. Padlocks, deadbolts etc.
FWIW … Pinning/rekeying your own locks is really simple and straight forward. However it does require a little knowledge and certain tools.
It’s quite easy if you’re matching a key you already own.
If you want a new key you’ll likely appreciate a key cutter.

Schlage. Part of Ingersoll Rand who I worked for 26 years and pays my generous monthly pension. A great company that is very skillful at acquiring subsidiaries. Trane AC, Hussman to name a few. And they know when to sell them, vis a vis Club Car. They had a policy to stay out of the day to day things of subsidiaries and let them earn. Stop earning and they might get some help.

Schlage and all the old IR hardware brands were spun off and have been owned by Allegion (HQ'd in Dublin Ireland) since 2013. There is no longer any association with Ingersoll Rand.
