Well...my wife has lost her wedding/engagement rings set...FOUND!
Update:

Found it in the hamper where my work socks/undershirts/wear go. No reason for it to have been anywhere near it, my guess is it got attached or bundled up in an undershirt that was tossed in. She said she had checked that hamper, but she must have missed it.

And here, a photo of Dave's work! (And he makes rings much better than I take pictures!)

Original post:
I love my wife, best one I've ever had...and she never really looses anything, but we're pretty sure she lost her wedding ring set. Made by our own Dave Truong, of course.

We hosted friends on Friday night. She had the rings on then. I went to bed early because I had to be up for work at 03:30. When I came home early Saturday afternoon she asked if I had seen them. She took them off after her girlfriends left, getting ready for bed, and hadn't left the house all day.

We looked up and down, all around...looked through every bit of garbage/recycling, drains, disposal, laundry, under all the furniture and cushions, every drawer, every coat pocket, bathroom crevice...you name it. And then we did it again. And then we did it again with a friend helping.

Don't think the dog ate it, but at this point we think it has either been thrown out inadvertently or she put it somewhere before she went to bed that was the best hiding spot in the house (she had the better part of a bottle of wine, I'm sure).

The rings are insured as an add-on to our regular insurance, thankfully, but I don't like the idea of what impact filing a claim would be. "Loss" is a covered situation. Despite that, if it doesn't turn up I think we will file--though I'm not sure how long we will wait. Not really in a hurry.

The irony is that her mother lost her wedding ring at about the same point in her marriage, and they just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. Big Grin

My question is why would she take them off in the first place? My wife hasn't taken hers off in 38 years. I asked her what it take for her to take them off and she said hand surgery or death.

Have you removed the traps of the sinks? Also check nylons if she wore them could have hooked on them and gotten pulled off.

Neither of us sleep with jewelry on. And we take the nice ones off and wear silicone ones when we’re working with our hands, or anytime I’m at work.

We’ve checked sink traps. Hoping it is somewhere around here, yet to be found.

I feared my wife would lose her ring (because she loses everything else), so I set some ground rules the day I gave it to her. Never, ever, under any circumstances, set the ring down on anything other than in its designated spot. It's either on your finger or in a ring box. If the ring box we have isn't in a convenient spot, I will buy you as many ring boxes to leave around the house as you want, but the ring absolutely must be in a box.

Sink was the first thing that came to mind, though I was thinking P-trap instead of Waste Kang.

chongosuerte, let me know if you start thinking it may be somewhere a metal detector would help. I'm in your area and have one you can borrow. I also have a pinpointer you can borrow if you think it would help.

I appreciate the ideas. She’s more upset than I am. I’m actually not upset at all, besides wanting her to be happy.

I’m still waiting for us to find them in the folds of a sheet or something, where they were accidentaly launched when an article of clothing they were on was picked up or something.

If not, our anniversary is in April, guess I’ll have a good present idea Wink

When I search for things, I systematically pick things up and move it from one side of the room to the other. I've found so much of my wife's missing crap under the paper on her desk because she doesn't move things around when she "looks" for things.

My wife recently did this as well, her rings were found in a cargo tie down on the deck of one of thier c 17s.

There was a 18 hour period that she was freaking out about it though, she can't wear it on the plane so it's usually zipped up in her arm pocket on her flight suite, somehow the zipper came down and well you know the rest....

A few days ago, my 10yo daughter came crying to me. She said she had flushed down the toilet they ring my 8yo son had given her two days earlier. Sbe said she had looked everywhere and couldn't find it, so it must have been flushed down the toilet. About an hour later, she found it in her pocket.

I lost the key for my ATV once. Looked everywhere for it. Always kept it in one of two places, in the change pocket of my jeans or in the same spot as my safe deposit box keys. Months went by and I happneed on an article saying you should clean tbe trap out on your washing machine. I had no clue my washing machine had such a thing, so naturally I looked the see. Low and behold, the ATV key was in it.

Her rings are somewhere. Most likely in the room she normally takes them off in or in a pocket if she took them off before doing a little cleaning up after her girlfriends left. I'd take all of the drawers out of the dressers and check the dresser. Then I'd put each drawer back in empty and check each article of clothing before I put it back in the drawer. I'd move all of the furniture. The rings could have slid behind and are hung up on the wall and back of the furniture. Check any floor vents as well. I'm sure if you systematically tear the room apart, they will be found.

Good luck!
