Oz_ShadowSharpening mower blades
The flap disc worked well for me. I had never sharpened with one. Easily went from the sharpness of a spoon handle to kitchen spatula sharpness.
Cut through easily but clumped heavily because it had gotten high, even though I had the Gator blades with a completely open side discharge.

Dang! I'll have to ask at my local Ace the next time I stop in. If mine does the same, then that would definitely be the way to go.

wingsparI bought my lawn mower in 1990 and have never had a problem with it and have Never sharpened the blade and guess what. It still cuts the grass.

That’s the advice given to me by my neighbor who turned me on to Honda mowers. He just replaces once a season for $30 rather than trying to mess around with trying to sharpen the relatively light and thin Honda blades.
On my old mower which had a heavy steel blade, I’d clamp to my workbench and use a file then some sandpaper to deburr.

hberttmankI use a bench grinder and a balancing cone on both my mowers. My Dad used a file, which seems like the hard way to me.

I don't have the tools to do it correctly. My local Ace does it for $8. They balanced it too.

WaterburyBobI just switched my mower from the mulching blades to the standard blades and put on the bags for the fall.
I sharpened the blades on my bench grinder. Quick and easy - 3 or 4 light passes per cutting edge.
I don't obsess about it; I'm cutting grass, not performing surgery.
The blade doesn't have to be like a precision cutting implement, it just needs a nice sharp edge.
