With all the bad stuff going around these days, I thought I'd tell you a nice story. The Boy Scouts here have a fund raiser. Pay us $X.XX and for every Federal Holliday, and a few others special days we will put up a US Flag in your yard that day. Yesterday evening (9/11) I see a Boy Scout running toward the flag. I figure he was just going to pull it out of the ground and chuck it into the vehicle. What did he do? He ran towards the flag. Stopped a few feet away from it, saluted it, and then removed it from the ground. We may complain about kids these days, but it appears that there are enough of them out there to give us hope that all is not lost. Enjoy.

Our boys are long out of scouting, but I’ll always appreciate the emphasis on the importance of honoring the flag and their involvement in special projects and ceremonies through the years. Today the boys are naturally respectful of the flag and what it stands for. RB Cancer fighter (Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) since 2009, now fighting Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Wait, what? |
My 15 year old daughter came home from school on 9/11 and complained that her school had no memorialization whatsoever. No moment of silence, nothing. She and her friends spent the next day tweet-mocking the county for it. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Through Scouts I learned how to properly handle and fold the flag. Good fund raiser for the troop.

Our local troop does that fund raiser. Really like it as it provides me a real service while I support them. Now if I could just get the adult administering the program to figure out how to cash my check in a timely manner. He lost it last year and we are 4 months in on this years.

Yep, there are a few good ones. Nothing used to make me prouder than taking one of my baseball teams to a minor league baseball game. When the anthem was announced, they stood, removed their hat and placed it over their heart, put their opposite arm behind their back, and stood in silence watching the flag until the song completed. I even had one instance where one of my players knocked the baseball hat off another kid (gently) and told him what he needed to be doing. Kids need but direction to become 'good' kids. Unfortunately, that's what many of them are sorely lacking in today's culture. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom.
