This is truly sad news. There has not been anyone in the firearms world that I enjoyed listening to more than Phil Schreier. His depth of knowledge and his ability to tell a story was amazing. Condolences to his family. He will be missed.

Was eating lunch with friends at the 1994 NRA Convention in Minneapolis and he sat down next to us and started telling us about being designated as the museum director. He was excited; we had no idea who he was (until later).
Very sad news. I did multiple graphic design/logo design projects for NRA over the years and was at the Fairfax VA HQ when Phil was my contact. He personally picked me up at the airport, got me to the hotel where I spent 4 nights while working on the graphics for the soon to be opened NRA Museum. While at the HQ he took me through the walk-in gun vault where all the good stuff was. He was just a great guy. R.I.P. Phil.

Hate to hear of it. It's been a few years since I last saw and talked to him at a show, but for several years I was a museum volunteer with him when the museum was still in the DC building. Saw a few minutes of a video with him and Larry the Cable Guy firing a Garand and Barrett on the indoor range just the other day.

I went to his visitation this afternoon (the service is tomorrow morning). Got there perhaps 20 minutes before it began, and I would say he had 30 friends and acquaintances waiting in the anteroom and vestibule then. Folks were showing up to pay their respects, and wish the family well, for certain.
