I'm not a hippie, but I think that allowing my body to sweat vs plugging my armpit pores with aluminum is the better idea.
A year or so ago I switched to aluminum free deodorant. I started with Duke Cannon. After about 6-8 months of not being satisfied, I switched to Native deodorant. I am halfway through my first one and continue to be unimpressed.
At the end of the day, I can still smell B.O., albeit B.O. mixed with some perfumed scent of the deodorant and not revolting. I keep my pits trimmed and I shower at least once, often twice, a day.
When I used anti-perspirant I did not smell myself at the end of the day.
Is there something better out there? Or should I just go back to an anti-perspirant?

I like this brand, but HEB has it cheaper than Amazon.

Last week the Mrs. and I went to the Preakness, when getting ready at the hotel I noticed that I forgot my deodorant- anti perspirant , Arrid XX. Crap! I decided to give the wife's Lume a try, she has been using it for a while. I have used it on my feet a few times with success.
It worked great all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, highly recommend.
Been using this for several years now One stick will last a long time. Hray
Edit to add that I looked up my last order of the mineral stick and it was 9/23/22 and it's still going. I Use it every day. This message has been edited. Last edited by: hray,

My wife keeps pushing LUME deodorant on me. Can't tell if I stink or she is worried about my health with aluminum contamination.

I use "Crystal" mineral deodorant stick. It has no smell but does a good job with odor. You just have to apply it when you are clean and use a little water.

I'm not a hippie either, but I've been using these for years! Last a long time!

Been using Lume and then Mando for a couple years. Doesn’t last 72hrs for me but definitely 48. Like lots of the scents. My pits no longer itch like they have for decades with random products.

In 2014, I became an expatriate living in Alberta, Canada, full-time designing an oil & gas project. Living there was much different that visiting, and the differences became apparent. For example, I'm allergic to most deodorants, but I had found one aerosol that I could find in any US drug store, super market, or big box store. Turns out, it's only sold in US and Great Britain and since it's aerosol I couldn't fly it in with me. That started the unfun period of trial and rash . Amazon Canada blows (limited selection, high prices, slow delivery, etc), and many of the sellers are actually American companies so you have to be super careful buying or you'll get hit with tariffs and customs delays.
I switched to a crystal deodorant, and the current brand I use is Thai. It's aluminum free and works well to prevent stank.

You guys are all wrong. The best aluminum free deodorant is made by Dr. Squatch.
I've tried a few other brands, and they just never worked very well. Dr. Squatch deodorant though works all day and smells natural. It's great stuff.

The Lume lady thinks my gonads stink too. Or so she says often on TV. I may try Mando to see if I can get her to shut up.

I have been using the Mando but hesitated recommending it after consulting Para. Since others have now mentioned it I will throw in my 2 cents. It works well for me but be forewarned they aggressively advertise.

Bravo Sierra. Been using them for 5 or so years. Made here and they donate to military charity which is a plus.

I have been using Art of Sport for the last few years. I used to be able to get it at Meijer locally but now I have to order from Amazon and the price and gone way up.

Another vote for Dr.Squatch. I've tried many with varying levels of success. Dr. Squatch actually lasts a full day. I prefer the bourbon barrel.
