A firearm is an object. A weapon is a purpose. Without the ability and intent to use a firearm as a weapon, it is not a weapon. “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz This life is a drill. It is only a drill. Oh please. I carry a firearm because it's a weapon. These word games we play in regards to guns can get real tiring sometimes. Good grief. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Oh WOW, I am so impressed, a bunch of fat out of shape 20 somethings can hit a 2x2 target at 25 feet with a 1 second split time WITH A SEMI AUTO RIFLE. BTW, this ex smoker and 62 year old had over 9500 steps in before 6:00 AM this morning and currently has a VO2 Max of 37. Which won't impress many runners but would astonish most doctors familiar with COPD. Basically this old geezer with COPD could run those snowflakes into the ground and I can also out shoot them by a bunch. Crikey, one of those dudes had Back Fat shaking when he fired. I've stopped counting.

I agree, and that’s why I don’t initiate them. But words do matter. One of the favorite antigun tactics is to refer to all guns as “weapons,” even the collector item that hasn’t been fired in a century or someone’s Olympic free pistol. “Weapon” is a scary word in itself and makes it much easier to convince the ignorant that all guns should be outlawed. It’s also one of the things that I explain to my students in use of force classes: “Why did you shoot that [simulated] man?” “He had a gun.” “I have a gun, are you going to shoot me? It’s not the object that justifies using deadly force; it’s what someone is doing with it. A person with a gun can be a threat, but so can a person with a beer bottle. You must be able to articulate what the threat was, and not just say, ‘He had a weapon.’” On the other hand, if one’s gun or guns are intended as weapons, then fine: call them that if it’s what we wish. But to reiterate, “gun” is an object; “weapon” implies a function or purpose, and therefore not all firearms are weapons. “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz This life is a drill.
