I've had one since I was in Jr high. Cheap thing from the local surplus store. I'll have to check the label to see who made it. Used to be my fishing or hay hat. Mostly just rides around in my truck now.
I feel kinda stupid wearing it, as at my age it would suggest some time in uniform that I didn't do.

Checked the label and no manufacturer was listed. Summer hat, type II size 7-1/4. Light green label with black lettering in a civilian camo pattern (Smokey Branch I believe). Anyway, it was well worth the <$10 I paid for it in the 90s.

I no longer work in the yard, rather I pay and pay someone else to do it. But there was a time...and many years ago my wife insisted I needed a Tilley hat to wear while working in the yard.

I had already earned, by this point in my marriage, that it was far better in the long-run to just say "Yes, dear" and buy the whatever and be done with it.

So, I bought one and I am real sure I never, ever paid anywhere near $100 for it. It still lives in my garage.

I have an old OD rip stop boonie with the nylon loops around the headband and slightly newer desert camo that gets much use in the hot sun. When I actually need a hat the boonie is my favorite since it shades my neck and ears. Seeing my uncle go through endless cancer spot removals has me using a hat whenever I’m out in the sun for long.
I do have a nice Tilley that gets some use if I’m going to be out all day and I don’t expect to need to stow it crushed.
I do prefer the more utilitarian military style of the boonie. Just pick a few patterns you like and get the right size. They’re cheap.

I wear a straw hat for summer yardwork. Specificaly, it's a Docker branded straw fedora, that I bought a number of years ago for around $20.

I have this hat from Henschel Hats, which I think someone here recommended four or five years ago or so.

It is well made, functional, has great ventilation and is somewhat reasonably priced.

I use it primarily for beach but also for some yard work and the kiddos sporting events.

They have available many styles for summer hats.

The one drawback for the model of hat that I have is that it is not machine washable which I found out too late, but at least I got a few seasons out of it before I killed it.

Gentle hand-washing works pretty well and if you regularly do that it keeps the hat clean while maintaining its shape and functionality.

I have a terrible time finding a hat that fits my big old head but finally found one at Duluth. It
is a size 2x and has a bigger brim than a traditional boonie hat offering more protection from the sun.

I have Duluth Co. Boonie hats for when ever I’m out in the yard working.

After wearing straw hats for many years I decided they didn't keep the Sun entirely off the top of my head or provide enough ear protection. I purchased a "Swiss Tech" from WM for about $14 this Spring. It is a little hotter than the straw hat but provides better protection. It has a back drop to shield my neck and a cord tie-down to keep it from blowing away on windy days. Overall it seems to work well for me. (It is China made) I found the tag on it. It says Broner Hat and Glove $12.99
