My Local School Honoring POW/MIA's Before Football Game
I want to brag a bit on our local school. I know a lot of members on here aren't happy with what is going on in their schools. I try to mention in those threads to run for the school board, make a difference. Changes can happen, but not if everyone sits on the sidelines.

Anyway, as a result of all that, I feel this is some good news from our school, worth sharing. Below is copied from the school Facebook page. I can absolutely say, this is one of many things that makes me proud to serve on our school board.

I would love for some of our St. Louis area members to make it down to Hillsboro for this event.

Please join us Friday, September 24th for the First Annual POW-MIA remembrance night at our home football game. There will be numerous special pregame activities and recognition as we honor the lives of the POW-MIA and recognize our military men and women for their commitment and sacrifices.

Hillsboro R-3 is the first POW-MIA designated School District in the country. Through the partnership with Jefferson Barracks POW-MIA museum the Hillsboro Football program became aware of the story of St. Louis native, Lt. Michael Blassie who was killed in action in Vietnam, was not appropriately identified and was buried in the tomb of the unknown soldier. Learn more about Lt. Blassie and the dedication of his family.

Lt. Blassie's call sign "Hawk Zero Two" has been placed on every Hawk helmet, his special operations "black hawk" will represent the Special Teams awards, and the POW-MIA emblem proudly displayed center of the back of the helmet. We take pride in carrying on the names and stories of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

To show our respect and gratitude we will honor military personnel and remembrance of POW-MIA through an annual remembrance night home game each season.

I'll record the ceremony this evening. I may need help if anyone would like for me to post it (never posted a video, only pics).

I can’t begin to describe how proud I am of our school, our administrators, our teachers, our students and our community.

Tomball vs. Tomball Memorial last night. Both bands and choirs combined to put on “Patriot Night”. Complete with a marching in of Veterans behind their service flag while the band and chorus played/sang their respective anthem. Oh…and a fireworks display that would rival some Independence Day shows. GREAT job by the schools!! Brand new, beautiful stadium. At least I’ll enjoy my tax dollars for a few years…

Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24
