Fair labor price for a LSD install?
Toyota uses an electronic LSD in the Tundras. It jockeys the brakes to simulate and LSD. While it is better than an open differential it really does not work all that well.

So looking into adding a LSD looks to be the only options are an Auburn unit or a PowerTrax unit. The Auburn unit uses clutch packs and the PowerTrax uses a gear system.

Some claim the PowerTrax gear setup will be more durable but I am also not hearing of any reliability or longevity issues with the Auburn system.

The Auburn is made in the states and the PowerTrax is made in China and also costs about $100 more.
So already leaning towards the Auburn.

I wish I had the know how or the tools to do the work on this one but I just don’t. Any idea what may be a fair install price?

I would out the China deal and go from there. Sorry no help otherwise. What year is your Tundra?

Pretty much where I am at. Plus Auburn has been in the game for a very long time.
Tundra is a 2014

I don't know a fair price to install.
Have you looked to see what Eaton has to offer? I would go with an Eaton product. Eaton has e-lockers for Toyota and I think they also have LSD's and lockers.

Eaton was the first place I looked.
Unfortunately they only have an E locker (that I can find) available for the Tundra.
A locker is likely overkill for my needs plus they are $1,400 just for the unit!!
An LSD will serve me much better as most of my driving is on road and the off-roading I do likely would not need a locker.
An Eaton Detroit TruTrac is what I was hoping I would find.

$7 a hit will keep him going all night and most of the next.

Or so I’ve heard.

See if there is a Torsen type differential option.

Our Nissan SE/R had one and it applied constant power to both wheels through turns, but at the proper amount.

I don't think I still have my receipts, but around here a gear install is about $1,200-$1,400 with parts and labor included (Jeep pricing, but installing gears is a chore in anything). I would think yours might be higher since you would have to add the cost of LSD unit into that price.

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I have looked high and low. These are the 2 options I have found.

I won’t be regearing just adding the LSD. So the only parts cost would be The Auburn is $550, carrier bearing kit is $220, and fluid runs about $50.

The side carrier bearings are part of a trilogy of factors that affect correct backlash and gear contact points. So the diff needs to be re-checked and possibly set up correctly when replacing carrier bearings. The carrier bearings, as you preload them, can move the ring gear further away from or closer to the pinion (backlash). You need to end up with correct carrier bearing preload, correct backlash, and a good gear contact pattern (check with gear paint).

Jeremy, if you’re going to all the trouble of installing a LSD, spend the extra few bucks and get an air locker. ARB makes one for your Tundra. It’s a little more pricey and you need to add a compressor ($214) but in the end it will be well worth it. You could pre-install the compressor. The labor of the differential will be the same. When off road, having the ability to fully lock the differentials is huge.

At this point an air locker nor e locker will remedy the issue I am trying to get rid of. Sadly my amount of off-roading and difficult of off-roading does not really warrant a locker.

This truck spins tires with the slightest bit of wetness and an incline from a stop.
Trying to give the truck a little better road manners in the wet.
The LSD will help out off-road to the extent that I get it.
