I was cleaning out my tool box in my car and at the very bottom I found an old G2. It was very dim but came on after many years. Some of the credit must go to th Surefire batteries. I found a conversion kit online for around $10 and ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. It didn't seem to want to fit and I found a video on Youtube that says to throw the spring away. I did and now it fits fine. Is there any need for the spring around the bulb and has anyone else done this? I converted my MagLites years ago and they are working fine.

What conversion kit did you use for the MagLites? I'm looking for one for a two D-cell Maglite. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

The brand I bought doesn't seem to exist any more. Search EBAY or Amazon for Maglite LED conversion kits and there are several to pick from. I wouldn't spend much more than $10.00 or so.

I bought this on 4-5 years ago and was astounded by how much brighter it is. https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod..._title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 "Cedat Fortuna Peritis"

Maglite conversion... I bought a Teralux (sp?) jobber some years ago. Afterwards my opinion was sadly that unless the light had some sentimental value, or it's real job was a club that was also a flashlight, the money was better spent on a new light instead. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

200% Once upon a time signing up for their email would save you 10% but I'm not sure if that's still available. In either case, great products and stand-up people. Have dealt with them numerous times and have zero reservations recommending them. I'm not as illiterate as my typos would suggest.☮

Terralux was what I bought several years ago and they are still working. I do not see that brand listed any longer, but the product looks the same. The brand of the new one is Bestsun.

I picked up something similar to bring new life to my G2 (my first "real" flashlight). Not much use nowadays for a light that puts out 65 lumens, but eats 2 C123 batts in a few hours. Figured for the price, really didn't have much to lose. https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod..._title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Like you said, the output is amazing! I was absolutely blown away by the beam this thing puts out. I put it on equal footing, if not slightly better, as my 1000 lumen Defender. I know lumens claims are often over-hyped, but I have no doubt with this thing. Battery life is ridiculous as well. I've had mine going on 2 years with zero problems. To the point I've even looked for used G2s to buy and convert.

For a Surefire G2, the Malkoff M61L is the way to go. https://malkoffdevices.com/pro...surefire-and-malkoff Why the the 230 lumen 61L and not the 450 lumen 61? As stated on that page: In my truck, I keep a Surefire G2 in high-visibility yellow and I replaced the old 80 lumen Surefire LED lamp module with the Malkoff M61L. These lamp modules are near bomb-proof. The 61L at 230 lumens is perfect to keep in your automobile, because you may be using them inside your vehicle and 450 lumens bouncing off objects a foot or two from your face will serve to wash out your vision temporarily. Also the runtime of the 61L is substantially greater than the higher output M61, while still giving you plenty of throw when being used outside of your vehicle. But, wherever you use it, the M61L is the highest output lamp module offered by Malkoff that won't melt the plastic head of your G2 when left on for several minutes. The plastic head of the G2 is not an efficient heat sink and you will damage both flashlight and lamp module if you leave an M61 running for a long time. With the 61L, there is no danger of this. I can't say enough good about Malkoff's products and the company's owners. These are people who appreciate your business and deserve your business and their lamp modules will outlast the flashlights you put them in. Currently, the M61L is 48.99 and if you look at the top of the page, you'll see that you can get 20% off your first order. My advice is to jump on it.

That rug really tied the room together. |
I bought the Malkoff M61LLW, I believe. It’s a warm tint light that looks almost exactly like the old 60 lumen incandescent bulb. It also is low draw amperage wise, so a set of 123 batteries will last over ten hours. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

I have several G2s and a G3 that are all running the Malkoff. Most of mine are using the M61LL which is 100 lumens for right around 10 hours of constant output. It's a fantastic general purpose LED that covers almost all of my needs. I have the M61L in the car for roadside emergencies and it too is a fantastic LED at 200 lumens but the runtime is cut to around 5 hours. If the head is plastic you should abide by the Malkoff caveats however SF also later produced them in metal to address heatsinking issues. You can find them on ebay but even if you can't, aftermarket metal bezels will work just fine. If you have a metal bezel you can run any M61 LED without fear.

I like me some Malkoff. When I converted my C2 Centurion, I also swapped in some rechargeable lithiums. Malkoff stocks KeepPower(tm) 16650 Li-ion batteries that work with Surefire bodies that normally run on 2 CR123a. The common *18650* batteries do not fit into surefire bodies. Alternatively, you can also run two 16340 (also commonly referred to as "rechargeable" CR123a) batteries as the Malkoff heads are voltage regulated. Why rechargeables and not lithium primaries? Because I don't like partially used batteries in my flashlights. For instance, when you pick up a flashlight, do you know if it's sorta full, kinda full, or mostly full? And at what point do you decide to throw out a perfectly good set of batteries that are "sorta full" but can't really allow to run out during an inconvenient time? Rechargeables fixes this problem by letting me top up batteries periodically so I know that they are always "full" or "almost full".

I’ve been running 16650’s in a few lights as of late and I am pretty happy with them. In my Surefire Tacticians I’ve changed over to a Malkoff clicky tail standing switch and 16650s and couldn’t be happier. The output is a bit lower, around 500-550 lumens vs the stock 800 lumens (compared to other known quantity lights). But the runtime is longer and they still put out a hell of a wall of light. Once again as was mentioned by myself and others, Malkoff not only makes a very very good product but Gene and Cathy are just helluva nice folks who are also knowledgeable, and responsive. It literally makes me happy to give them money especially in today’s world. I have lots of products from them and they are my favorite lights bar none. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

I want to say the Malkoff LED drop-in replacements came about nearly 15-years ago. I still have a G2 upgrade on one of my AR's. Pat Rogers was talking about them as a value alternative to a made-for long-gun light that would've been 3x the cost. Nice to see they're still chugging along.

I dropped a Malkoff into my C2. Wow. Very nice. Now I'm looking to upgrade my C3 to a high output Malkoff head. Lord, your ocean is so very large and my divos are so very f****d-up Dirt Sailors Unite!

Well, not to be left out I decided to convert my G3. I did my old M3 combat a couple years ago and it made a world of difference.
