I’m not sure if I missed something, but I’m sensing a change. Arc, I hope you’ll see this.

I just wanted to say thank you, I’ve enjoyed your posts over the years.

I particularly enjoyed all your knowledge on the M14/M1A, before the rifle room went AR centric. And I’ve enjoyed your personality.

Thank you!

I don’t think he’s going anywhere.
Probably “Technical issues”.
But yes, there is an odd disturbance in the Force.

I've noticed a change as well recently. Hope all is well.

He has posted some...interesting...threads recently, and all his posts in the lair were locked. Just out of the ordinary. Particularly for him. Hope he is ok

Sorry for making some wrong assumptions. It looked like he was quietly making an exit.

I truly wanted to say thank you.

But I do apologize for starting something that I really have no information about, it is kinda dumb.

This is why we have email.

arcwelder is a capable moderator and I don't micromanage him. If he has a question about moderation of the forum, he asks me and I answer him. If I need to to make him aware of anything he needs to know, I tell him. Otherwise, he's an experienced moderator and an adult and I trust him to do the right thing. His presence in the forum as a moderator is quite valuable to me and although I rarely say it, I need him here. The recent, aborted raffle is a prime example.

As far as I know, arcwelder has some very positive things happening in his life right now. If you want to know why he has posted things he has of late, or why he locks some of his own threads, you'll have to ask him. I'll point out that if SIGform allowed all members to lock their own threads, there would be multiple threads locked each day. As it stands, arcwelder is trusted by me and he gets no compensation for his duties here, so the least I can do is leave him alone and not make him explain every action he takes as a moderator. He knows what he's doing.

As anybody who'd been paying attention would know, as, IIRC, you've mentioned it more than once.

I noticed a few lately that seemed to solicit longer and more thought out answers, philosophical in nature.
My impression was that he was trying to create something interesting and get responses that required more lengthy and thought out answers than the usual responses to some news article or question.
We may all be putting a little too much thought into his motivation.

I wasn't worried.
I too have noticed a philosophical/introspective trend in his posts lately but I chalked it up to a near-miss at a red light or an impending colonoscopy or the like Smile

We love you, Arc! Group hug?

Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams
