Got a notice from our HR dept at work earlier this month. Effective 9/1 United Healthcare has an option to allow for a 1-year digital membership, or a 4 month all access (up to $155) So, if you have UHC, check to see if you qualify. The Enemy's gate is down.

Told cops where to go for over 29 years…![]() |
I bought one last year, really started using it in earnest these past 6 months. I am on a 26 week/103 day streak and usually do multiple rides a day. I prefer 20-45 minute rides with 5-10 minutes between them, but try to do 70-90 minutes a day. 481 miles in August and I’ll end up over 500 miles this month. I’ll hit my 300th ride next week. Have yet to do a “live” class, just the streaming past classes or scenic rides. I bought a bracket off Amazon for $30 that lets me swivel the screen. Also just bought a Rowing Machine at Costco, connect iPad to it and with iFIT membership (year free included with rower) it is similar with streaming video trainers and scenic rides. Rumor has it Peloton will be coming out with a rowing machine next year. With help from my Peloton, I have now lost over 120 pounds since April. Upper body hasn’t had much attention, rower compliments the bike perfectly. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]()

We got the swivel device too. I personally don't use that feature, but do like that it raised the screen a few inches. 20-30 min is about my sweet spot for classes. I've done a couple 45s & 1 or 2 60s but that was just to try them out. Personally, I don't like the live classes. I like the past classes for the 'live' cadence/resistance trackers. Those aren't present on a live class & you've got to be paying attention a lot more to catch the call outs from the instructor. Working from home, I usually try o get one in before lunch while my youngest gets a nap. Otherwise, it's a bit too chaotic around the house after work/school & I have to wait until after they're in bed & for food to digest after dinner. I think the Peloton has officially outmiled my road bike. Just shy of 500 miles since we got ours in December. Now that the weather's gotten a bit les sweltering, I may try to split seat time between the 2, but the convenience of the bike in the house is tough to beat. The Enemy's gate is down.

Yes, screen placement is better. My wife is not a fan of the bike, but makes the stretch/yoga stuff available on the screen. I definitely have more Peloton miles than real bike miles but enjoy riding outside when I can. I thought I would get in shape 6 years ago, and bought a bicycle. Being well north of 300 lbs, I ended up with a 29er MTB (even though I only ride on pavement) as I was afraid I would bend wheels on a road bike. That effort petered out and bike hung from garage ceiling for the past 5+ years. As I have been getting in better shape this year, I started riding the “real” bike as well. About 75 miles on it between August and early Sept. The low gearing of the MTB became a limiting factor, plus it was never really comfortable as it was a larger frame size than what I should have. Always had to be very careful anytime I came off the seat and immediately get leaned over to one side or the other or would lose balance and fall. Knowing I have lost weight for good and a set in new routines, a couple weeks back I bought myself a new “hybrid” bike. Proper size, better gearing, more comfortable. Ended up with a Giant “Escape 2 Disc”. I did 15 miles on it the day I bought it and 45 miles on it the next day. Last ride on the MTB I averaged 11mph over the 15 mile ride route around my house, the next day over same course and with same effort on the new bike, I averaged 13.5mph. New bike is MUCH lighter as well and now that I am down to the 220 lb range (and still dropping to 190 goal) no more worry about bending wheels. I like the fresh air but with fall coming in the pacific NW, won’t e a lot of real bike miles for the next few months What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]()

I bought a Schwinn IC4 last spring for a fraction of the cost. (on the advice of some Forum members here) I use my phone or Ipad if I want a screen. Access to multiple training Apps for free. Peleton products are good - I just don't know if they are worth the 2K price tag and the subscription costs associated.

Did my 300th ride today (actually 299, 300, and 301). Also working 27 week and 105 day streaks. Told myself I would ride it EVERY day for 6 months minimum. I have 75 more days until I can take a day off. Dec 17 will be a day of rest! What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]()

If you have any personal experience with depression or anxiety, I highly recommend Kendall Toole’s recent Mental Health ride. She is really good at what she does. I blew away a personal best on this ride. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

My 10 day streak was broken by Covid. Managed to get in a 5k on Sunday to keep my week streak going (32 IIRC). Need to get one it this week too, since I'll be out of town the next 2 weekends. Looks like we got a few new members on the #sigforum tag as well. The Enemy's gate is down.

I added the hash tag to my profile the past week. Almost 30 days in and a meager 100 miles or so on the bike. But its 100 more than I would have done without the bike. "Si vis pacem, para bellum" If you want peace, prepare for war.

I’ll be adding SF hash tag tomorrow!
Keep plugging away, it gets easier and addictive. I started my weight loss journey in April, at first I could do no more than 5-10 minutes at low cadence and light resistance. Just kept forcing myself to get back on and do better. My Peloton miles since then: April 29.9 May 61.40 June 279.55 July 365.42 August 481.1 September 505.27 I am on a 116 day streak at this point, I usually do 2-3 rides a day totaling 60-90 minutes. I’ve done a total of 319 rides as of today. My goal is to hit a 180 day streak at which point I will take 1-2 days off a week. All of that and I have yet to take a “live” class. I am thinking maybe #500 will be live. Will be fewer October miles since I bought a rowing machine a couple weeks ago and am now splitting my workouts between the two. Rumor has it Peloton will be releasing a rowing machine next year, very interested to see it as I will probably be ready to upgrade. Wow, impressive numbers Boss! I've not done any live classes, but my wife did & she didn't care for it at all. You lose the cadence & resistance markers, and have to really pay attention to the instructor for the callouts. Personally, I'm happy with the pre-recorded classes. 85 rides since December, majority pre-recorded classes, with a few of the scenic (live pace, distance) if I'm time-limited to get a ride in. Thanks! I’ve heard about not having the cadence/resistance markers, but to be honest I rarely go with them. My cadence tops out at about 75-80 no matter what resistance I have and I seem to be able to handle more resistance in the 60-70 cadence range than a lot of the suggestions are. I “joined” #sigforum, if anyone is interested my name on Peloton is LoneRidr. Looks like Ronin and I are now following each other. Seems there are a few of us using the Peloton. I started a thread in “The Lair” for ride/workout recommendations/reviews. Thought that might be the better place and a separate thread to keep focused on specific workouts for folks looking for suggestions or something new. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...460019584#6460019584 What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]()

I have been a cyclist off and on most of my life. Last winter I bought a Wahoo Kickr Core, put an old road bike on it and connected to Zwift. I have been riding outside since March and enjoying the heck out of it. I have two fit issues to resolve on the trainer bike, shorten the stem and get a comfortable seat. In three weeks when daylight savings ends I will be back on it. One lesson I learned, I did not use the trainer once this summer, next summer I will turn off the $15/mo Zwift subscription. I have a few SIGs.
