A little back story.
Back in 2007 my wife and I worked for the same company. We got tired of wasting half the day on Saturday trying to figure what we should do.
One day I asked If she wanted to learn how to shoot guns. She said yes. She liked it so we went out and found her own gun.
A few months later we went for our CCW licenses. At first she was not sure that she would ever carry a gun but would get her license any way.
By 2010 she had come a long way when it came to firearms, she had become a great shot, had purchased more firearms and started shooting IDPA competitions.
Now we shoot IDPA,ICORE, Action Steel and several other competitions. She has shot machine guns a 20mm anti tank gun and other interesting firearms.
In 2014 we joined a central Florida gun club. Our club is a members only club however it is open to the public for the different club matches we do.
Our club is open 364 days a year however we close one day a year to our members. We have an event called Ladies Day at The Range.
In 2016 My wife became the chairman for our clubs Ladies Day event.
Over the years along with the other ladies on her committee she has grown it into a huge event.
Our event was yesterday Saturday the 13th. This year she had over 380 ladies attend the event. She also had over 200 volunteers to make this happen.
With out the volunteers this event would never ever happen.
My wife also has many sponsors and vendors that allow her to keep the price to the ladies under 40 dollars for the day.
Most of our sponsors are local, however she also has some big national sponsors.
As far as I can tell with all of my searching this is the largest event of this type in the country.
What the event does is allow the ladies to come out to the range and try most of the different disciplines(IDPA,ICORE,Carbine,Multi gun,Club Steel,Hi power rifle, muzzleloader/blackpowder, shot gun, archery, smallbore) along with things like ax throwing,Hand gun safety and maintenance all for less then 40 dollar.
It all starts with a safety briefing then they go out and have fun. They can do as much as they want all day from 8am to 4pm.
It is the most incredible thing you will ever see. It is amazing.
The smile the ladies have on their faces are priceless.
I along with others are very proud of what not only her but her comity members have accomplished.

Wow! That sounds awesome. Congratulations! You should be proud of her. She’s done some awesome things!

I wish there was something out here that I could send my wife to.
I think she would have fun if she saw other ladies doing the same.
I’m still trying to convince her to get her concealed carry license.

Bean not terribly far for you, the indoor range in Prescott valley has a couple ladies groups as does gunsite in Paulden. My club ( yavapai recreation league south of Prescott ) has a family day for shooters to sample stages of different events we host with guns and ammo provided.

There is an event called Desert Flower lady's day at the range. They are located in Mesa Arizona at the Rio Salado Sportsman club.
I do not think it is as involved or as big as the event my wife runs however this is something she might be interested in.
The lady's who runs this event are Kippi Leatham and Debbie Keehart. My wife had talked to them when they were starting their event.
As per their web site their event is going to be May 4th 2019.
Their web site is www.herhandgun.com. Registration may be limited.
If you and you wife want to see some of the picture's from our event email me and I will send a link.

We have a range here,(Hoover Tactical Firearms), that has a program called Babes and Bullets which seems pretty popular. In addition, several women show up to shoot simply because they like to. I used to shoot in a regular Thursday night league and this guy had a 13 year old daughter who came with him that frankly made many grown men look like beginners.

I think I remember you posting something similar after last year’s event (or maybe some other prior event, my alleged memory leaves a lot to be desired). Outstanding leadership by your lovely bride then, and it sounds like she’s taken it even farther this year. Major kudos to her for her awesome leadership (wrangling volunteers is not for the faint of heart) and to you for starting her down the path!!!

We both thank you.
She is a member here but does not post much.
You are correct about me posting about her for her Ladies Day Event held in April of 2018. The post was last October. It was a story that was done by a national shooting magazine.

I love a story like that. The more women involved in shooting sports the better.

Congrats to your wife I’m sure it’s a ton of work to be a big part in organizing such an event.

2019 Ladies Day at the Range

I would like to thank every one for their supportive comments. Ladies Day has been a very rewarding experience and if I could get paid to do this I would quit my full time job.

I thought you might like to see a video that was done by one of our volunteers who donates his time to do this as well as create our safety videos that all attendees. We also have 2 additional photographers who donate their time. Our sponsors love the pictures they give us.

I hope you enjoy. I have signed up to run the 2020 event on April 4th, my 6th event. If you have plans to come to central FL... Please send your ladies!

I spy a Legion SAO at 8:15 Smile

Surprised at the number of ladies there. Lot of women of color, which is rare to see at the range.

Awesome job on her reaching out to people who may not get the right exposure, hopefully she does it for many years to come.

Bonnie are you Mrs. 71 Truck?

@Skins2881

Yes, I am Mrs. 71 Truck. Wink. And thank you.

We sold 400 tickets in 2019 plus gave away an additional 20+ sponsor tickets. We sell out every year. Last year ticket sales were slow, it took 3 days to sell out, we have sold out in as little as 7 hours. Usually the first 200 tickets sell in the first 2 hours.

Sig is one of our sponsors and they sent a female rep as well who stood on the firing line at one of our bays the entire day letting the ladies demo several different Sigs.

Glock is also a huge sponsor and their female SE rep has been attending for several years and Team Glock shooter Ashley Rheuark attended this year as well.

The event has a very diverse following and I absolutely love it. Young girls in their early teens up to grandmothers, all having a good time and seeing that guns can be a fun activity and learning how to handle them safely.
