For anything that will have multiple color stains or dyed portions like the sign below I alway use poplar as it’s a light color & allows the colors to be brighter.
No I refuse to use power tools of any kind.
All by hand with hand tools.
I picked up a set of these, they’re a new company and have impressed me so far.
