My Kirklands are made by ReSound. They've worked great. Get the hearing test and they'll give you options. Costco hearing aid batteries are a screaming deal too.

My wife and I keep saying we need to make a list of the amusing misunderstandings we now have frequently, and didn’t used to.
I’m going to download that book, thanks for that!
I had severe high-frequency hearing loss on the left side even as a young man, no doubt it has worsened on the other side as well.

Is there anyone here with hearing aids who sings in a choir? Does the aid help hearing or blending? Does it improve high frequency tones enough to get back some “hi-fi” sound?

Thanks again everyone for really useful information. I have had terrific service from Costco on tires, eyeglasses, etc.

We are Kaiser members but although they do audiology, my wife had a test but found it unsatisfying to be told her hearing is about average for her age.

My 74 y.o. sister in law insisted that my brother go to Costco to get tested.

Which he did. His hearing was fine, just fine.

The tester lady asked my brother if he was going to let Janet know that she was wrong about his being hard of hearing ?

My brother told the audiologists,

I haven't stayed married for 53 years by telling my wife that she is wrong !

I’ve worn eyeglasses for over 30 years and prescription orthotics for over 10. I couldn’t see functioning without either. I have multiple pairs of glasses depending on the task.

I’ve never understood why some people get worked up over hearing aids. Get them. Hear again. Keep living.

I have started playing guitar again after quitting music in my late teens. Costco hearing aids restored the highs and lows that caused me to abandon my music career in my late teens. (I’m 71 now) Mastoid infections and surgeries killed of much of my hearing in my late teens. Earlier aids were not selective enough.

Recent advances in frequency selection and specific freq isolation have been a big help. I can control what freq ranges I want to amplify via a smart phone.

I will never be able to sing on pitch again but I can play and hear the ranges of guitar quite well.

I will be the spoiler. I have a set of the Kirklands.
They work fine, when they work. I had Miracle ear ones for 10 years. The price is what brought me to Costco.
The issue I have is the service. My right aid keeps shutting down on me. I have been going back and forth to Costco for a year with this. And I live an hour away.

They have gone thru it 4 times, reprogramed it twice, sent in in for repair twice.
It’s like “ when is it time to replace this thing?”

One time I picked it up and didn’t even get out of the store before it cut out on me. Mad
I have wasted a lot of time and gas on these.

And therein lies the problem. There is no readily apparent process for solving a repeating problem.

I have previous generation Kirkland hearing aids, that need a dongle hanging around my neck, to couple to a smart phone. The dongle no longer works; it now refuses to pair with my hearing aids, and refuses to make a bluetooth connection to my phone.

The hearing aid tech in the Costco store has tried over and over again to get it to connect, repeating exactly the same steps that I have gone through, with exactly the same results that I have had: bupkis!

The store tells me that the manufacturer (Rexton) will no longer repair these, because they had so many problems with them. I am informed that Rexton will sell me a new dongle (no more reliable than the one that I have) for full price. I asked the hearing aid guy to escalate this within Costco, he said that he did, but I have heard nothing. Queries to Rexton have not produced any results.

So yes, you are correct. The Kirland hearing aids work very well, most of the time, in fact almost all of the time. But when there is a problem that the local store can not solve, there is no apparent process for getting the problem solved. That sucks.

This is a timely thread, been thinking about getting these for a while now. I just joined Costco a couple of months and will look into this, I know my wife will be overjoyed with this news.

Have the people who are having problems spoken
to the store manager ?
If he can't or won't

Do anything
Ask for the regional managers phone number.
