By George! Maybe there IS a way. I scrolled down to “1. Using Message Filtering” in the link below and followed the instructions. I hope it works – it won’t take long to find out.
Presumably it puts all messages from unknown senders (those not in your contacts) into the Messages “Unknown Senders” box. Then, after several days, I can “Delete and Report Junk” on a bunch of them at a time.
Click “< Filters” at the upper left corner of the Messages app then choose “Unknown Senders”.

Same. Thanks for the idea. I've been getting a lot of them lately.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I had this unknown sender set up on my phone. Years ago the wife and I were sicker than dogs. We called the Kaiser line and were waiting for the Nurse/Doctor to call us back so we could get some appts or meds. While Kaiser was in our call list, the phone line they called back on was NOT hence we repeatedly missed their calls.
Again thru the years missed calls we were waiting for because others called us back on a different line.
This week, my Doctor called on what appeared to be his personal cell phone line and the call was missed.
Just something to think about when you are expecting calls but they call back on a different line.

Thanks for the info. I set it up, but not sure how much I’ll use it. While I get a lot of texts that are junk, I also get a lot of necessary texts from numbers not in my senders list. Some of these are messages I do not want to, or cannot afford to miss.
Being able to filter by “not in contacts” will definitely speed up the process of junking the ones I don’t want though.
Thanks, Pipe Smoker.

This definitely works. It was a memorable day when I first found out how to use this. I get >100 "Unknown Sender" texts per day. I do go down through the list to see if there are any I need to see, but then "select all" and "delete" makes them all go away.
