I currently own two of them ,but none of mine has the metal stiffener in them.

I have two kydex holsters that require threading the belts through two slots .

They don't clip over the the belts.
The threading requires bending the belt at a right angle to get the tongue of the belt through the second hole.


It's only a very small p.i.t.a. with my current belts , I don't find it problematic, at all.

If I order another belt with the metal stiffener installed,

Will I ruin the belt with the bending ?.

Am I going to have to go holster shopping for holsters that clip over ?

I also own two Beltman belts, one from the previous owner, one from the current. Both are plenty stiff enough without an internal stiffener. The newer “bullhide” one is stiffer and thicker and to be honest I forgot all about their internal stiffeners.

I'm a long time Beltman customer. For low speed competitions I use a Beltman belt with my holster and mags pouch. No stiffener needed. By the way, the pistol on the belt has been a G34 or a Staccato 2011 with no sagging or other issues you might think it would have. Would recommend its paired with decent trousers with enough belt loops to support your kit.

Yes, you have to still contort it through holster slots because it's already a stiff belt without adding in a stiffener. Highly recommend a Beltman belt.

I have one Beltman belt with stiffener, but no kydex holsters. The issue I have is using clip-on Don Hume mag pouches -- they're damned difficult to use with the Beltman. I got a DeSantis belt, pretty stiff, I think it's one they advertise as designed for NYPD detectives, and it works with the mag pouches.

I know this is not directly related to your question, bendable, but I suspect that the thickness of the reinforced Beltman belt may be a source of problems for you. I'd contact the company and ask their opinion. In my experience, they are extremely helpful and responsive. They even responded early on a Sunday morning to an e-mail question I sent them late on a Saturday night.

I wouldn't think a metal stiffener would extend clear to the end of the belt.

I have a Beltman with stiffener. Bending it 90 degrees is going to be hard on it, as it would with any belt. The instructions that came with it advised not to even coil it too tightly. I'd get a different holster, or add belt clips, as that sounds like a PITA even on a belt without the stiffener.

I had a special IDPA belt with a plastic stiffener inside. Not good for threading as you describe.

There is a plastic swing-open clip by Blade-Tech that can be mounted on some holsters. I wonder if you could modify your holster to use these?

How about a dual layer nylon belt?

Quite stiff. Just like some other belts, not as easy to put the holster on while wearing, but much easier if you thread it on prior to donning the pants.

The Tek-Lok clips are the bomb. If you go that route, you may want to play with them and get comfortable operating them before you decide where to mount them on your holster. You can purchase them with or without holster hardware. If you do purchase with hardware they come with three Chicago screws with each clip. I’ve used them on range holsters for years with no issues.

Can the kydex be heated and reformed? Bending a beltman belt would be difficult. I currently have 3 and am ordering to replace the 10 cheapie 1.25" dress belts I just tossed. 2 Beltman's will suffice

Beltman himself offers that the stiffener is not often necessary. Seems like the stiffener may thicken the belt to the point even clip overs may not quite engage fully. I think it would be a very heavy revolver that would make the standard Beltman belt sag. Mine have been fine with an all steel commander size 1911 with two magazines on the off side. Good products and good value. Often you can find one of his returned belts at a discount, depending on your size.
