I agree. Dude sounds like he’s an ass. My wife is a NJ high school teacher and as bad as the NJEA is, they do seem to take care of the teachers. She’s about to have a baby and her leave deal is sweet. I have heard a horror story or two though. I wish I could give you some advice. | |||

I guess I don't understand why the union rep and your wife's boss would be discussing her employment status with you, spouse or not. Doesn't seem ethical and probably even illegal unless she gave consent. And has been stated, the union rep's interest should be the employee not the employer. | |||

I am not good at toeing the company line and it's bit me a couple times, so take this for what it is. Free advice, probably worth what it cost. I would probably ignore the idiot and his perceived offense unless he forces the issue in some way. I have little interest in whether other people like me. If he wants to avoid any interaction, civil or otherwise, I would have little problem with that. All that said, may I ask why a licensed engineer is a high school math teacher? If I had her credentials, I believe I would tell that district to politely go sit and spin. If she is the type who genuinely enjoys teaching, please disregard. I wish she was still an engineer with the county, the pay was much better. It is the same pension system so the time as an engineer adds to the time she has in as a teacher. 3 years and she can retire with a good pension and medical. She enjoys math a lot, was willing to take the pay cut and enjoy all the time off. Problem is in the summer I'm the only one getting paid. Our district doesn't let you spread it out over the 12 months. deepocean, She does not work at the school where the union rep works. I work there from time to time, but with 7 schools, they try to keep me closer to home if possible, so I work that school usually 1 or 2 days a week. Remarkably, my wife gets along with the rep but told me there are a lot of teachers who don't like him as he has an attitude. Up until this situation he was just someone I passed in the hallway or substituted his math class. Living the Dream | |||
