So beautifully put. So true.

Prior to having a house-call, I took a few to the vet's office. It seemed to confuse the others when I came home without their buddy, and they searched around a painfully long time. Under the circumstances it was hard to watch.

I didn’t think of that, but that’s what our Vet suggested last time. I thought it might be a weird idea, but they recommend it. The other animals in the house understand it vs continually looked for their friend.

I am not a pet person, just don't get the upside.

But I've been cat sitting for a neighbor lady on a regular basis
.
She got Murphy 14 months ago, he bit the shit out of her arm 7 months in to their relationship.

The lady spent four days in the hospital as it got infected.

6 months ago Murphy did it again, 4 stitches worth, ouch.

Last night I heard the garage door go up at 11:00 .
After 7 hours in The e.r.,

Murphy went for that "last ride" this morning.

I was in shock for 3 hours.

I didn't want to bump this thread but as it has been, RIP Blue Moon

It didn't go great. He was always feisty and made the vet work.

I opened this thread because, in an ideal world, we could easily carry out the deed ourselves, on our terms. Not so it seems, not without violence.

The next time - kinda unlikely at my age - I'll have someone come to the house.

Later, Blue

A very handsome, proud boy he was!

I'm so sorry it's over, though I know you fought as hard for him as he fought.

I have used Lap of Love twice now for my pets and would highly recommend them. They were very caring and professional. I honestly don't know how they can do it and not be emotionally impacted.

Don’t think for 1 second that they aren’t. They understand that they need to put their personal feelings away and be strong for the loved one they are helping on their journey, so as not to impact the trip. As well as being strong for the family. It hurts. It is heartbreaking, and it takes its toll.

And what a beautiful little cat. Thank you for updating us, Ripley.

Six years ago, Santa brought some dogs and cats to your house for the kids. The dogs were brother and sister, he: white with brown spots, she: black lab all around. They were tiny and very scared at first...

Fast forward about six years, she gets Lyme Dz in May this year, but survives with antibiotics. But she develops kidney issues and slowly loses weight.

She got to the point of not keeping even water down, and I talked with the vet. He came out the the car, where she had familiar blankets in the back. He did a great job with a tough situation.

Glad to hear your vet worked with you!

It is NEVER easy....
