Some loser set his truck on fire and began stabbing people not too far from where I stayed while in Melbourne’s CBD. He apparently had some kind of propane tanks in the truck that thankfully didn’t detonate. The Aussies were quick to label it terrorism.

Are some LEOs NOT armed there? In the video, one was using a baton against the guy with a knife.

Oz cops are armed. But I think they were just trying to subdue him as he had no firearm.

I vote for knife control, now. Then we can ban blunt objects, and then harsh language.

Firearms ownership is possible.

It's just a lot more difficult with fed and state laws, regulations, training and secure storage.

There's an entire generation who have grown up without firearms.

The Victorian police have to at least attempt to subdue. Last resort.

Update:

A restaurant co-owner was fatally stabbed in this terrorist event. Two others are in hospital with good prognosis.

Known family and associates were detained earlier this morning.

The terrorist - Hassan Khalif Shire Ali, a Somali refugee (ISIS have claimed responsibility) - was shot and killed by Victorian police.



Hassan arrived from Somalia at 11 years old, two decades ago.

In recent weeks, Hassan had said to his imam, that he was being chased by unseen people with spears. He had married and moved out of the family home (family concerns). Hassan had not attended the Virgin Mary Mosque for sometime.

Hassan had placed LPG gas and fuel tanks in the back of his large utility, and set those alight.

The Board of Imams are 'angry' at the attack.

There's more, but mostly confusing media reports. We all know to wait 24 hours.

cjevans, Was this guy on Victoria police radar? I read something yesterday that said his family had terror ties but he wasn’t someone Victoria police was aware of as a possible terror threat.

It was in MN, and he did not know she was Australian. She called about a female screaming possibly being raped and when the squad car show up the victim approached the squad on the driver’s side the Officer shot her as she approached shooting across his partner who was driving. The officer Noor was charged with 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter.
