Never been to Antarctica, but I've been in the Arctic Circle in Alaska many, many times as the oil fields of the North Slope are here. The blizzard in Para's video reminded me of North Slope storms.

The oil & gas safety standard for the North Slope had phases for weather with a 0 being normal weather and a 3 being the worst blizzard you could imagine (looked like Para's video). Travel in a phase 3 required travel by convoy, arctic survival suits, AND authorization from the top manager on the "the Slope." Travel authorization was only granted for things like medical evacuation for a serious medical incident (e.g. heart attack).

Smoking wasn't permitted in the man camps so most smokers had nicotine gum to get them through the inevitable phase 2 or 3. You could easily get lost between the camp door and the smoke shack, but there were smokers who would risk their life to go outdoors to smoke in a phase 3.

If you're goin' through hell, keep on going.
Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it.
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

I was there as well (Orchard Park) temps hovered around zero for a week or so. I will never forget how cold it was.
