In this thread I mentioned that I was pretty much out of room to expand my long-term diorama project.

A couple of weeks ago, Mrs. PHPaul suggested that since I enjoy modeling so much, perhaps I should buy or build a shed to move into so I'd have more room.

Some investigation into options and costs rendered that inadvisable, so I came up with Plan B: Clean out and rearrange things in the basement to get more room in the existing space.

After hauling off a small pickup load of crap that should have been thrown away years ago, moving some furniture and shelves and tearing out some unused benchwork I came up with enough room to expand the diorama from 4x5 to 5x6 feet.

The cleaned up space looked like this ^^^. As I expanded the original diorama, each section added was built out of whatever I had laying around. In addition to being ugly, it wasn't very stable.

As part of the upgrade, I built a single table to transfer the existing modules to and allow for a 12" addition around two sides to take advantage of the added room.

Now comes the fun of populating the new real estate. The back left corner of the diorama was a "hill" with a woodlot. That has been expanded to take up the corner of the addition, with a pond and more trees. Waiting on some resin tint to fill the pond with water. It'll feature a guy fishing out of a canoe and an active beaver dam and lodge.

I've seen this movie. Hope no ghost is hiding in the cemetery.

Very nice work.

Pond is done. In retrospect, I wish I'd have added some bottom debris and fish before doing the resin.

I don't envy you. I neither have the patience or the vision for such things. But, at least, you have an outlet for your creativity.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

"costs rendered that inadvisable"

If you would be willing to sell it, I am sure there is a buyer out there. People buy all kinds of things. There are hurdles no doubt as your work looks fragile and would have to be shipped with care.
