RNshooterDuke University medevac helicopter crashes
Sad story.
Link If this is the same type of helicopter I saw being built for them at Rotorcraft, in Denver, it was a big beautiful bird.
Edit: Yup, EC-145. The military calls it a Lakota.

c1steveSo black smoke from a helicopter, would that tend to be a hydraulic line that burst and caught fire, or an engine problem?
That is a dangerous job riding one of those every day.

RNshooterIt's a dual engine aircraft so an engine failure is unlikely to crash it.
Hydraulic failure seems likely but we won't know for over a year.
I make my living doing that work so this hits home. It's a very small community.
Back at it, in the morning.
