| V-tails range sounds nice. Public ranges out in the woods kinda suck. Years ago we held regular SIGforum shoots at a public range up in the GA mountains. We had fun but the rest of the folks that happened to be there, well, let’s just say their firearm handling and safety skills weren’t so good.

| The last one in Ocala was a pretty good turn out. |

I'm still waiting for somebody from the club to get back to me. I'll post in this thread when I hear from them.

| One of the club officers just replied to me, so we have started a dialog. Nothing really to report to y'all yet, other than she had some questions for me: - Woud we want the use of the meeting room? I think that's a good idea, a place to sit and schmooze.
- Will we be serving food? I don't know, maybe somebody might want to bring a grill for burgers, etc.
- Will we want pistol area? Rifle range? I assume handguns for sure, maybe rifles. Pistol caliber rifles are permitted in the pistol area, but the maximum range there is 20 yards. The three rifle ranges are 50 and 100 yards, and the longer one is metric, at 200 meters (I have no idea why two are yards and one is meters).
Please feel free to add comments, suggestions, etc. to this thread. It will help me, in my discussion with the club officials, if I know what people are thinking. In terms of the facility, it's pretty much just a nice outdoor place to shoot. Shade trees in the pistol areas, and the rifle shooting benches are roofed over. It's "bring everything that you need" -- nothing for sale there, no ammunition, no targets, the 4H group does keep a couple refrigerators stocked with water and soft drinks for 50 cents / ea. Need to bring target stands for the handgun areas; there are backing boards for targets in the rifle areas. All of that is detail to be worked out if / when there is a decision to do this.

| I am interested and I have shot at Vtail's range a couple of times. Central Florida is as far as I can travel. Wait for the temperatures to drop! |

| Depending on the time of year, I would be interested as well.

Well, it's not "my range," I don't own it, it's a private membership club that I (and several other SIGforum members) belong to. Nice facility, though. Probably the best place that I have been to, for shooting. Located near the center of the peninsula portion of Florida, just a bit northwest of Orlando. I'll publish driving directions if we do it there, and if any of our aviation members (SC, Marzy, . . .) want to fly in, I can make arrangements for your airplane at Our Little Airport and can arrange for ground transportation, etc. The club is 15 or 20 minutes from our airport (X04 on the aviation charts).

| Something I had not thought about before, but IDPA is first Saturday of every month at the club. They always have a half dozen squads. If people are interested, we could make up our own squad. On IDPA days, the handgun areas are IDPA only until the match is over, usually early afternoon, then the handgun areas are back to normal, open to all shooters. The rifle ranges are not used by IDPA, so they are available all day. quote: Fee structure for IDPA:
Current IDPA member and Eustis Gun Club (EGC) Member – $10
Current IDPA member and NOT Eustis Gun Club Member – $20 (includes $10 EGC liability waiver fee)
Non-IDPA member but EGC member – $20
Non-IDPA member and NOT Eustis Gun Club Member – $30 (includes $10 EGC liability waiver fee)
Junior shooters under 18 – FREE (with adult supervision).
