Greenland Signals Closer Co-Operation With Chinese Communist Party.
https://thenationalpulse.com/2...ese-communist-party/

Greenland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt, says the strategically important island will seek greater cooperation with China and potentially enter into a trade partnership with the communist state. The announcement, made in an interview with the Danish daily newspaper Berlingske, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing U.S.-China trade conflict and President Donald J. Trump’s goal of securing strategic control over the island.

“China is very important to us, and we are eager to strengthen our cooperation,” Motzfeldt said in the interview. The Greenlandic Foreign Affairs Minister noted that she traveled to China in 2023 as part of a diplomatic delegation to open the island’s representative office within the Danish embassy in Beijing. Motzfeldt emphasized Greenland’s current trade relations with China, noting its significant seafood exports to the communist country.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has made securing American influence over Greenland a key goal of his White House. The island—currently a semi-autonomous protectorate under the Kingdom of Denmark—is strategically located at the boundary of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans and holds significant rare earth mineral deposits. Currently, the island hosts a small U.S. Space Force contingent at the Pituffik Space Base. However, American military officials have pushed for a more significant presence, including the possibility of a naval facility for submarine basing.“We’ll get Greenland. Yeah, 100 percent,” President Trump said during an interview in late March, stating he was confident it is a “good possibility that we could do it without military force.” However, the America First leader added that he would not “take anything off the table.

”Conversely, China has condemned American aims on Greenland, with Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lin Jian stating: “On the issue of Greenland, China always believes that relations between countries should be handled in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.”Motzfeldt’s announcement of interest in increased cooperation between Greenland and China comes amidst increasing tensions between the United States and its Asian communist rival. Last week, the Trump administration announced it was increasing the trade tariff on Chinese imports to 145 percent. China retaliated, raising its import duty on American goods to 125 percent and barring the further purchase of American-made commercial aircraft.

Well, we know who got a nice payday from the ChiComs. It will be interesting if Fartwell's weekly supply of Chinese Hooker Spies were flown to Greenland.

I wonder how long it will be before China is shipping metric tons of fresh water in the form of glacial ice back home, or over-running the entire island with rude, arrogant tourists? Or worse, colonists? Once China is firmly embedded there, it’s highly likely they will simply absorb Greenland through simply outnumbering the gullible natives.

Why would a freedom-loving people choose to ally with a freedom-crushing society?

https://thehill.com/policy/int...-greenland-security/

How can a country within NATO and under the protection of these nations make such utterly stupid decisions?

An obvious ploy to increase the offer price for a US purchase? Art of the deal? Kinda makes me think this may have a chance of happening after all.

Do not overlook the fact the Danes, and by extension, the Greenlanders are socialists. They will only begin to wake up when the native Greenlanders find their fisheries depleted and unable to support native Greenlanders. NATO long ago ceased to be the organization founded after WWII and designed to contain the Soviet Union. For these nations, China was never part of the equation.

Time of the month.

Gives DJT the perfect excuse to give them the ultimatum: you cozy up to China, that is unacceptable to the U.S.
Relent or we will...you know the rest.

Or we will what? Seize the territory of a nonbelligerent sovereign nation by force?

Is that seriously what you're advocating?

If "trades with China" is the low bar for giving the green light to go conquer another country, then you'd be okay with the US invading just about every country on earth.

Hell, WE trade with China.

They have already refused our buyout offer so I'm not sure what other options we have if they won't give us their land.

Excuse me? The answer would be to let them keep their land. Eek

Let's say your neighbor showed up at your house offering to buy your property, and you said no. Would you then be okay if they just seized it by force? Come back with some friends, shoot you and your family, take your property, no big deal. I mean, you turned down their buyout offer, so how else were they going to get you to give them your land, right?

What the hell... Why are some forum members suddenly okay with spooling up the US military to go conquer a peaceful nation?!

Germany invades their neighbors in WW1.
America: Damn, that's bad. We should stop them.

Germany and Japan invade their neighbors in WW2.
America: Damn, that's bad. We should stop them.

North Korea invades their neighbor in the Korean War.
America: Damn, that's bad. We should stop them.

North Vietnam invades their neighbor in the Vietnam War.
America: Damn, that's bad. We should stop them.

Iraq invades their neighbor in the Gulf War.
America: Damn, that's bad. We should stop them.

Greenland turns down a buyout offer.
America (apparently): We must invade our neighbor! We have no other option since they won't give us their land.

Do you guys really feel comfortable with China doing what China always does in these situations? How many years before Greenland is heavily indebted to China and hosting Chinese bases on its territory? What starts as "mutually beneficial" trade agreements always ends with China holding leverage.

China trades with Canada and Mexico too.

I guess we should start preparing to invade them as well?

Or should we start with all the Caribbean nations that trade with China, and tackle Canada/Mexico afterwards?

After all, since your argument is apparently that we should just conquer our neighbors now (which is a good thing) because if we don't China might take advantage of them later (which would be a bad thing), we better get after it, right?

Rogue, you didn't tell us the whole situation, that your neighbor wanted to buy your house INSTEAD of taking it by force because your house was in reality a safe house for operatives of the largest communist party on the planet. If you're going to make a point about china in this context add more sense to it with a better analogy. The China problem is way bigger than the trade deficit, which is the current modus operandi for china, and could get drastically worse in the near future depending on what we do now to fix it, and other things as well. When they roll up to our shores with the largest navy in the world and a trade deficit too far gone to fix and so much economic and political power that we could never recover from, well, you should think about that. Trump doesn't want to conquer anyone, he wants to prevent China from conquering US and everyone else. Quite literally. If you don't understand Trump's rhetoric and strategy for getting shit done, then you probably never will.

Again, every country in the world trades with China.

Discussing a trade agreement with China is not the equivalent of "setting up a safe house for communist operatives".

And no, I don't understand the mindset that would view invading friendly nations and seizing their territory using military force as apparently fine and dandy. (Not for others, naturally... Only for America.)

Especially if your justification is something that might potentially happen at some point in the long term future, not because of something that has already happened, or is imminent.

China isn't setting up military bases in Greenland. (Only we are.) If it ever gets to/near that point, the equation could be different. Or not. After all, we never invaded Cuba when the Soviets set up missile bases there.
