Oh, it's going to get far worse than that. The police are no longer allowed to do their job. They have no support from City Hall and the filthy trash in the city is emboldened like never before.

A few more months of this shit will cost NYC very dearly. Who will want to live there?

I'm going to ask a stupid question.Why didn't the police get a warrant before they went?

Assaulting a police Officer is an arrest which can be made on probable cause. Also the knowledge of one police Officer is the knowledge of all.

Considering the nature of the assault (using a bullhorn to try and damage the officer's ears?), I'm not sure why they wouldn't get a warrant if some time had passed and he was inside his own home. I suppose they could enter under the "fresh pursuit" doctrine if they'd just chased him inside, but it doesn't look like that. I'm thinking that sometime after the incident occurred (when they didn't taken him into custody immediately), an investigator ran the details by a prosecutor who said he/she would file a case. At that point, I'd have just done the filing and gotten a warrant for the guy's arrest, then we wouldn't have to worry about entry issues.

This emboldens the criminals. If I resist they'll give up.

A lot of the current problems is encouraged by the lack of forceful action.

Maybe outside of their home. Probable cause can/may be used to get a warrant.

When their cities become unlivable they flee to red states because the quality of life appeals to them. Then they continue to vote for their deranged world view. Looking at all the left coast license plates rolling around AZ makes me sick. Liberalism is a fucking cancer.

People will flee New York city just like the did in the 60s and 70s. There is a term for this.
Then New York city will turn into a shit hole again.
It took a long time to turn it around so people would want to visit again and feel safe.

NYC is in a death spiral from which there is no escape at this point. Crime is rampant and the police can do nothing about it. The politicians are supporting the mob over everyone else. Cuomo sees what's happening and is all but begging wealthy people to come back to New York while DeBlasio is both taunting them and suggesting their taxes should go up as punishment for their non-allegiance to the city.

I heard one pundit yesterday claim that DeBlasio is 'purposely' destroying NYC. Given what he's done, I can't say as I disagree with this claim.

Meanwhile, in Gotham, Mayor Bill DeBlasio begs rich people to come back so they can pay more taxes...

Reading the article, an hours-long standoff after the actual incident without an arrest or search warrant, not only would I expect my brass to tell me to pull out, but I’d expect to get suspended for a bit after the internal investigation.

Of course I don’t trust the media, and I have no clue what the NYPD’s policies and SOPs are, but I deal with my share of barricaded subjects, and if there’s no paperwork, or it’s not a serious crime, we’re probably going home to catch them another day. Not worth the danger and with no warrant it’s a waste of time and an entry may not even be legally justified.

Going to get a warrant once it’s evident one is needed is always an option. That does not seem to have happened here.

Sounds like somebody got excited and didn’t check all the boxes before pulling the big red lever. And once the brass became aware they squashed it.

I too am unfamiliar with NYPD SOPs. Had this been assigned to me, I would have sought a warrant for the scrotebag and then waited for my chance to catch him going to the Dollar Store.
No standoff. No retreat. I would then check the box on the offense report that says: Cleared by Arrest.
And to all NYPD officers: My respect and best wishes.

The dirt bag actually went on to speak to the angry crowd about himself prior to turning himself in. I am so glad I don't live in a state with officials that turn their back on the cops. I hope the cops do the same when responding to their complaints/calls.
