A while back there was a thread about arch supports.
My size 14B feet have zero metatarsal arch and I am seeking a thin orthotic.

I have been using these for several years because I walk on hard surfaces all day and was getting joint pain.
You can buy them for a lot less on eBay with free shipping. Otherwise, podiatrists and some pharmacies.

The Dr Scholls Custom Fit really saved my feet. I never go anywhere without them. You have to stand on the machine at Walmart and it tells you which one to buy. They are about $50.

For my dress shoes where I need something thin I love these arch supports by Berkemann. Problem is I can't find them any more.

This is an alternative that I can get on Amazon. Make sure to get the "High" arch support version, the low is too low. This is the Pedag Viva High with Metatarsal and heal cushion.

These have the additional support in the center of your foot. It takes a little time to get used to it but once you do it is very nice. Again, this is a good choice for dress shoes where room is an issue and you need ridged support. My Planters is gone now but I still keep these in my work shoes.

My 14EEs have been using heat moldable Sole footbeds for a few years now. They offer different thicknesses for different footwear.

THESE!! I was referred to a podiatrist for foot pain (plantar fasciitis, but not in the traditional location) - he referred me to these supports. I have a pair of the medium and thick for different shoes. They've made a world of difference.

The soles are made from recycled bottle corks. You can buy them online, or you can find them at REI if you have one nearby so that you can confirm which size and thickness you need.

Remember when buying full insoles, take the stock insoles out of the shoe.

Ordered size 14-15 Powersteps.
Thanks to 220-9er, Excam Man and Drozer for the positive comments.
Removed stock insoles from shoes and inserted the Powersteps.
Very comfortable.

If you're a vet try the VA. I have plantar fasciitis and get custom inserts from the VA every couple years. They fit great and I've been pain free since I started using them.

I had a bout of plantar fasciitis about 18 months ago. It started after going for a walk where I neglected to transfer my Dr Scholl’s (the kind “fitted” to me from the foot sensor kiosk) to my shoes.

Thanks to a Sigforum post, I ordered Powersteps from Amazon. Not only are they better than Dr Scholl’s they cost less and don’t make my shoes so tight (Dr Scholl’s are a real bitch with slip on shoes without laces).

Due to how the plantar fasciitis started, I didn’t stop with just my work shoes either:

I have all hard surface floors at home so I have a set in my slippers.

I have set in my gym shoes

I have a set in my casual weekend shoes

My old Dr Scholl’s are installed in my yard work shoes.

I just spent another $42 on Powersteps. It is expensive to hang out here!

I wasted over $120 on various off-the-shelf orthotic inserts and arch supports etc and none of them worked. All of them were too flexy or soft and they just didn't cut it.

Finally had my podiatrist scan my feet and had custom-molded hard plastic orthotics made and I move them from shoe to shoe and it makes every one feel like I'm wearing comfy slippers now!

$300 and worth EVERY PENNY.
