You do know that you can hover your cursor over the link, and see it? Just because he spells it out doesn’t mean it’s safe at all. Spoofing URLs is super easy.

It’s a recursive loop.

Thanks. Recursive loop. How cute. Cannot even admit his error.

I can do that on a computer but my tablet doesn't have a visible cursor, so no hovering.
You can get around that on the forum by clicking quote - the URL will be visible in the response box.

I have it on tape. It is a staple on the History and also the Smithsonian channel. Beats the CNN coverage.

Didn’t Vietnam war officially start with the sinking of a ship? You remember the gulf of Tonkin incident don’t you?

That boat is just about 10 nautical miles from where I am now. Literally.

Oh that’s right… It was just a conflict that killed 50,000 Americans.

Sheffield sinking was big as it was 1) the first RN ship to be sunk in the war, 2) the first combat loss since WWII and 2) it validated and burnished the reputation of the Exocet missile.

Keep in mind also, that two other Type-42 destroyers: Coventry and Glasgow, along with Sheffield, were the anti-air picket for the entire fleet. All three got hit, Coventry along with Sheffield were sunk, and Glasgow was in such bad shape she was a mission kill and had to return to the UK. The Argentine Air Force put up quite a fight.

No. No ships were sunk in the Gulf of Tonkin incident.
If, however, we want to associate a ship sinking with the start of a war, or at least our involvement in it, the sinking of the Lusitania helped convince the US to get involved in WWI.

Its undated so who knows when it was shot. Also seems odd that they all were able to take their Dress Uniform when they abandoned ship

I find it hard to believe that the missile strikes were not recorded either by drone or satellite. You KNOW that the entire region is under heavy satellite scrutiny. I suspect that we will eventually see what really happened one way or another.

Perhaps we should see about looking for manganese nodules on the sea floor?

Drone perhaps. The Ukrainians reportedly used drones to distract the ship's defense systems ahead of the missile strikes. But so far Ukraine hasn't released anything. And if they actually had drone footage, I suspect they'd be chomping at the bit to release it, to highlight the lies and ineptitude of Russia's "it sank during a storm due to an unexplained mundane fire" explanation.

There was reportedly heavy cloud cover that day, which hampered satellite imaging. Plus satellites don't necessarily cover 100% of the globe 100% of the time anyway.

The article posted by navyshooter stated that there is satellite imagery of the Moskva foundering and other ships attempting to assist, using a special type of satellite that utilizes synthetic aperture radar technology that can 'see' through clouds. But it was only over the area during the final hours before Moskva's sinking. And that wouldn't be actual footage, more like a "radar scan" of the area reconstructed into image format.

As we've seen in this war, every photo and video needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Doing a photo-op, cursory inspection, right after they'd just lost their ship would fall in-line with the poor priority practices that Russia seems infected with. Dog n'pony shows and looking the part, are more important than actually being capable. After all, the NORKS are spectacular parade performers and organizers.

Sevastopol is HQ of their Black Sea Fleet, not implausible for them to have enough uniforms (working blues or, admin blues?) available to get everyone outfitted.

Yeah right Big Grin

The same Russians that can’t keep tires on their trucks? No, they are full of shit as usual, they are trying to save face here by showing a video that is clearly from an earlier time. Perhaps from the ship’s sendoff?
